Probably isn't a problem then. Could just be dust or just because the pads are scraping in the opposite direction compared to 99% of the time going forward.

ive been told (by a dealer, but knows his subies well) that it's an issue with brembos to squeal in reverse; mine do it to, but only for a moment as i hear the pads 'click' into their place in the caliper - the squeal lasts about a second unless i'm really dragging the pedal to try and get it to squeal

Don't ever use a super abrasive item like a wire brush on your rotors. At best you use a plastic brush embedded with an abrasive material and lightly scrub the surface of the rotor. Takes care of what you need it to while not damaging the surface.

The advice on this board ranges from decent to whacky. Research, but know that when you do you can't rely on one source.
Really? Hmmm... I haven't actually tried the wire bush myself but people on NASIOC seem to like the idea. I guess it would be dependent upon how abrasive the wire brush was, as a plastic brush could be just as bad.

So when you scrub your rotors, what does the surface look like when you're done?

Thanks. I thought it was weird that it would only squeal in reverse but now that I know it's normal I feel relieved.

So out of curiousity I went to Oreilys on my lunch break to just see what they had. I asked the lady behind the counter for pricing for rotors..she told me $556.00 for one..i left without saying a word...LOL...she was definately on something ...i asked her do you have EBC yellowstuff pads and she replied yes, went to go grab them and came out with pads in a yellow box named textar.

I think im looking into the stoptech kits now..

I run hawk HP's and DBA rotors on my WRX they work great. There are alot of options out there for pads depending on what you want.

In my limited experience High Performance = lots of dust. So depends on what you want....

I ran Hawk HPSs on my other car and I was not impressed with them. They were great when braking hard, but at slow speed or cold mornings they just didn't grab well and that is 90% of daily driving braking. The Stoptech SPs are much better IMO, both cold and at low speed, and surprisingly cost $20 less than what I found HPSs for. The SPs dust a little worse than the HPSs did though.

Damn I was going to get HPS too. I guess I'll just spring for the Ferodo DS2500 then.

I love the DS2500s but they are expensive.

You should seriously consider the StopTech SP pads... really good. 80% as good as DS2500's but at 50% the cost.

and wrxbrakes.com is a great vendor; has what you want at very competitive prices and prompt service. And they have experience with subies so you can ask questions. I have no affiliation, but maybe they should give me a commission if you buy! haha

Wow I checked them out and they got pretty rave reviews and are super cheap. I might as well try those out then.

I Love my Carbotech Pads. Currently running Carbotech Bobcats. Gonna try the Panther+ when these run out.

If your pads are low, the metal-scraping-sound will be constant.....not when you apply the brakes.
