The SU-16B is a rifle that I think everyone who owns rifles should have. It def lives up to its name is truly is a Sports Utility rifle.

It shoots great for what it is, very rugged and compact as well as versitile as hell (as you can see) and you get a lot of bang for your buck (no pun intended). It's not the GREATEST rifle you can buy, but its def a great rifle for the price... I love how much customization you can add to it with very little money, and it takes AR-15 magazines! w000t!

All in all, I think everyone should own one because they are like Subies of the rifle world... Inexpensive but lots of fun to b00t!

Originally the rifle weighed like an ounce, now its like 10lbs.
Other than the clip, I see nothing on that rifle that would make it not legal in this state. It appears to be the CA model, with the breakdown pin that swivels the trigger group out. That unit is 100% legal in the state, and because it does not have a pistol grip, you can put anything on it you want.

*edit* Ahhh its the B model, I want the CA because of the barrel.

lol, irks me every time I hear someone call it a clip.

I work for the Army in their video game development sector, and in our meetings EVERYONE calls the mags (magazines) "clips". It irks the hell out of me and I have started correcting them every chance I get regadless of who is saying it, I think its kinda embarrassing to have Army folks calling magazines "clips", dontcha think?

Also, the detach mag is legal for me since I have other 5.56 guns that Ive owned before 2000 which means I have pre-ban magazines for my other rifles that I can just use on the SU-16B.

Whats the difference between the SU-16CA and the SU-16B? I got my SU-16B when the first came out and haven't kept tabs on the other models. Does it just have a longer barrel like the standard SU-16B? I got the B model because of the shorter, lighter 16" barrel, the whole purpose of this rifle is for it to be small, light, and simple... why even bother getting a longer barrel for a rifle that folds in half? The whole appeal is that it fits into a larger sized backpack when folded in half, getting a longer barrel just defeats the purpose in my opinion.

Nevermind, the SU-16B

The “Bravo” model retains all the features of the original SU-16, such as integrated bipod, Picatinny rail, and rotating stock with magazine storage. However, the “Bravo” has a lighter and shorter barrel, about 8 oz. and 2.3.
The rear sight is hard coat anodized aluminum and adjustable for windage. The front sight, also aluminum, is removable and accepts standard M-16 posts. The SU-16B is not a replacement for the original SU-16 but a compliment for customers that put a premium on light weight and compactness. The “Bravo” type sights can be purchased as a retrofit for SU-16 owners preferring the M-16 system.

SU-16CA:
The SU-16CA Is a hybrid of the SU-16C and SU-16A rifles, and is legal in California.
The receiver, 16 inch barrel with 1/2-28 threads, bolt carrier, dust cover, sights, and case deflecting operating handle of the C model are combined with the stock of the A model. The SU-16CA will come with 2 10 round magazines that store in the stock just like the A model and has all the same parkerized parts as the C model. Just like the A model the SU-16CA can be folded for storage and it will not fire in the folded position. This allows for it to be purchased in most states that still have an "assault weapons ban".

Basically the SU-16B has better sights and a lighter barrel which makes it VERY light which is why I got it, The SU-16CA looks to have the shorter sight radius and heavier barrel which is cool if you want the heavier barrel. Of course all parts are interchanagable so you can put the B parts onto you CA, and vise versa.

Yeah, why wouldn't you be able to? You can shoot anything you damn well please, well as long as the round you are shooting is allowed and the range can accommodate it (like .50BMG is a very big round and some ranges dont allow it).

Ive seen people at the ranges with full auto MP5s, etc. As long as you have a semi auto gun, the range masters dont give a flying f' what you shoot, they aren't the police. If you are a cop you can pretty much shoot anything, full auto included. People with class 3 lic can as well.
