Yeah its kinda funny how they'l do anything to get your a** in the car but the moment something goes wrong they have no idea.."probably driver error" I understand, with all the gizmos and what not in a new luxery car such as a bimmer a lot of poblems can be caused by an unknowing, new owner, (not knowing how to set climate contol, ect). However, when you say a "new" car is overheating, buying from BMW you'd think they'd be a lil more helpfull. I was thinking of buying a bimmer too...hmm Audi?

Yeah its a new car, they have kinks. When I bought my wrx there were som e map issues, missfireing. I freaked, but SOA took care of me. So I can kinda relate.

So I get a few minutes of the service rep telling me that they ran a key reader and it said nothing was wrong. After stressing the fact that the car was about 45 minutes old, and i wanted a diagnostic run on my brand new car, they finally agreed. Guy calls me back about an hour and a half later and tells me i was in fact right, and that the car had a faulty fan assembly and he had went ahead and overnighted the part to the dealership.

So basically, they were gonna send us on our way with a car that they said had nothing wrong with it, and the wife would have been broken down again the next time the car sat idle for to long. Great job BMW .....

Needless to say, I have an appointment with the manager to discuss the situation.
I don't want to jump the gun and say something too crazy but!.... it seems that as technology gets better and we have easier ways to "check" cars that throw codes the more mechanics get lazy.
My hats off to the OP. I hope everything gets settled for you man. I would flip out if I had a brand new BMW and it died on me with in an hour I would flip! Good luck man and don't bend on this. The idea that the mechanic would NOT run a more detailed check on your car is so beyond not ok!
Sorry, I'm being repeative, good luck man!

I don't blame you. Nothing like starting a 6 yr relationship on a sour note.

It sounds like a case where the dealer still had the DMV paperwork so the car could be considered as new and unregistered. Overall, were they 'gracious' taking the car back?

You know Doug... they didnt argue at all, and were originally gonna find the exact same car just brand new (wife was ok with that) and call it a day UNTIL ... they saw my wifes business card. As soon as they saw where she worked they decided to just refund the down payment money and send everyone on there way. Ehhh whatever, they lost a car sale
