who wants that?
Its a back up, so long as the data is there it doesnt matter.

they could have fought it out if they had the *****. The papers they served were questionable at best. Any competent lawyer could have picked apart that case in a matter of min.

And I'm making a single layer, single DVD from a non-DVD source. I'm even trying to find a case here where any existing law actually applies.

I'm not breaking any encryption. I'm not getting paid for my efforts. Not to mention, I require an honest statement of prior ownership nor am I having a public view where people pay to view.

Which laws am I breaking?

I sure could use that 2 grand as well. And like i said before they could have avoided any cost at all if they had half a brain. the EFF thru contributions by people such as my self are helping those charged by riaa to fight them if they so choose.

Well this thread has NOTHING to do with the RIAA.

In fact it has nothing to do with the DMCA...

I'll just repeat for fun:

And I'm making a single layer, single DVD from a non-DVD source. I'm even trying to find a case here where any existing law actually applies.

I'm not breaking any encryption. I'm not getting paid for my efforts. Not to mention, I require an honest statement of prior ownership nor am I having a public view where people pay to view.

lets start with the COPYRIGHT LAWS OF THE USA.

i didnt mention encryption or anything of that fact.

my original statement was made to your original statement that you were doing to make a dvd of a LD and you were asking people to pay you for it.

now your original post has been edited a few times, so that's now lost.

um i dont think he was asking people to pay him for his effort (thus making it a commerical enterprise). He was asking that people provide dvdr blanks.

lets start with the COPYRIGHT LAWS OF THE USA.

Which ones would those be? I don't recall ones that say you can't copy stuff. There are laws about usage and profit-making.

i didnt mention encryption or anything of that fact.

See now, because that's the only laws that might remotely apply... but they don't so... I still don't know which ones you are talking about.

my original statement was made to your original statement that you were doing to make a dvd of a LD and you were asking people to pay you for it.

Well, no, edited or un edited I always told people that payment was for the DVD-R media.

now your original post has been edited a few times, so that's now lost.

What ever do you mean, edit? Either way, I never asked anyone to pay for anything other than than the DVD-R, media, either be it $2 or 25 fairy scooby snacks.

So, before you get off topic some more, which copyright laws am I breaking?

jason

edit: bad tag use, God forbid I'd be accused of not saying what I mean

You should find someone to pay you to scour eBay for people selling copies of things. Hey check out the guy on Yahoo!Auction who selling copies of most likely the same laserdisc for $15.

http://page.auctions.shopping.yahoo....3?aucview=0x23

Here's text from the auction, even has his e-mail. Maybe this will work like throwing a piece of meat infront of a rabid, mindless dog:

Buy Price: $15.00

High Bidder: none
Available Qty: 4

This film has been transfered from the Original widescreen edition laser disc on to dvd. has menu with scene selection. the picture and sound quality is very good. see, you are now shying away from the original point of this argument.

i didnt ask for a yahoo auction example.

you asked what law you were breaking.

i told you the copyright law of the USA. you dont own the copyright of the movie.

and you continually to attack me. great way to argue your side...
