Doesn't have so much to do with the age of the engine, mine is based on a 1970 350 block but the last dyno run showed around 380whp. I have a broken diff mount in my car and am trying to figure out what to do about it as this is a common problem in these cars. I saw a 280ZX run at the drags back when I was in Hawaii and the guy broke his windshield on launch from tweaking the body.. It's no joke. I am planning on getting at least a 4pt cage in back mostly for the longevity of the car. Has strut tower bars which actually help a lot on these, but needs much more.
Supposedly the guy I got my car from spent around $20k building the car, and I have all the receipts but this also has body mods (fuel cell, battery in a safe box, external power cut, suspension work etc). The shortblock alone was around $7500, then the EFI kit was around $3k etc.

I am just talking about the front pinion mount that is so famous for being ripped apart in these cars. I am having one fabbed in a few weeks, just talked to the guy about it. AZ Z-car's unit is very nice and works great but it's a solid mount to the body which means gobs of noise in the car. My car is already loud as **** but I would like to keep the rubber in there. Just going to be tricky.
I have an open R180 with the old school U-joint axles. It's a automatic 3rd member from a 280 - the guy was looking for low rpm cruising. He has a 3.90 or so R180 that I need to pick up. Don't want to do the R200 yet because of the hassles with the half-shafts - need to do it all new from the diffy to the hubs since the R200 is wider and will make the shafts bind.

Yeah that stuff is NUTTY bling bling. Did you see their friggin billet rear control arms? I could use that fuel-cell hanger too as my fuel cell is held in with a rim-type frame and is a few years old - should be replaced every few years due to ethanol eating the bladder so I hear.
