Big Brother is watching you in Tiburon!
Tiburon may install license plate cameras
The posh and picturesque town that juts into San Francisco Bay is poised to do something unprecedented: use cameras to record the license plate number of every vehicle that crosses city limits.
Some residents describe the plan as a commonsense way to thwart thieves, most of whom come from out of town. Others see an electronic border gate and worry that the project will only reinforce Tiburon's image of exclusivity and snootiness.

Ahhh theres that word again, "commonsense". They sure do love that when describing plans that are devoid of it.
So a house gets robbed, are they going to come interrogate every person who drove through that day?

I saw this a while ago on TV.
Apparently their intent is to catch crooks who enter the town to commit crimes.
Aparently like 100% of their crime was commited by people outside of tiburon, so their suspects would be persons leaving or entering who are not from tiburon.
Im not sure if i agree with it, but i cant see how this would be a violation of civil rights. Your in public view, taking pictures of your license plates in public is hardly a violation of civil rights.
Taking pictures of ANYthing in public is perfectly legal... Hence Paparazzi.

Flatline I think I see your point too, but wouldn't there be some issues of using that information to bring someone to trial? You don't think some PD could make a chain of evidence mistrial stick or maybe create reasonable doubt who the car belonged to?

**** I hate Tiburon.
And wheres all this crime that goes on there they need to defend against??
Also, you have to drive through Tiburon to get to China Beach state park, and people from all overthe bay go there.
"It's much more efficient than having an officer sit on the boulevard, watch passing cars and guess who might be a burglar," Cronin said.
yeah, because up till now theyve had cops sitting at the front of town profiling people driving in and out to harass if they 'look' like they might commit all the non-crime thats not happening there.
**** Tiburon
