I 100% disagree, Religion is the opiate of the masses. It should be abolished totally if we, as humans, are to continue to evolve socially.

Replace "religion" with "homosexuality".

Point of reference for those educated in public schools.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

As long as the school isn't presenting the Bible as the only way, true way, etc, why should any of you close minded, idealogical fascist types care?

In all cases?
Difference being?

Technically, I'm a Jew; my grandmother is Jewish, making her daughter(my mother) a Jew, making me a Jew.

I don't know the first thing about being Jewish, have never been to a temple, certainly not kosher..

Personally, I don't care what a person has sex with, loves, lives with, etc as long as all parties are adults and consenting.
Aaaand, refrain from saying their particular lifestyle is better than mine.

You and I are in agreement for the most part. Hell I don't care if someone wants to go bang Betty the cow while she grazes in her field, long as no one is hurt...and you don't ask me to watch/help, its all good.

However, I do feel religion is a road that leads to the downfall of our species.

I must admit, I do find myself with some respect for the Jewish faith, and quite a bit of respect for Zen Buddhism.

I don't see a problem with teaching the bible as long as their not forcing kids to be Christian.

As someone else pointed out, we should not teach our kids fiction as "truth".

There is zero scientific evidence the bible is based in anything but lies/made up facts. Where as science in general is the pursuit of truth.

Do you really want your kids being taught in school about some mythical ghost in the clouds?

I love how threads like this bring all the crazy out of the woodwork.

To everyone using logic to argue against faith, spare yourself the effort: you're wasting your time.

What I don't get is why fundamentalist Christians get so defensive. If you truly believe, then it shouldn't matter what other people say.

Also, your sanctimonious attitude is not very Christian of you. Ever heard of humility? Check it out sometime, you'll find a good definition of it in Luke 14:7-11.
