that would be the brown recluse.
Think Daniel has some killer pictures of his bite that I foresee ending up in this thread.
We're not suppose to have them here but I think they're around in some small areas. They're more of a desert deal and in the midwest. Responsible for a few deaths a year usually because of bites in just the right spots and people to stupid or too poor to do anything about it.
Shoot we have a GIANT rattle snake strolling around our house right now. My brother almost pissed on it.

so far I use windex to kill all my insect problems. I don't know how effective it is on spiders especially on big ones. but ants and small flying bugs die in metter of seconds.
its also good cause its like like your spray some hella toxic stuff all over. its just windex you can kill and wipe at the same time.
for mass web killing I would suggest the flame thrower technique. fire contact kills bugs pretty fast and webbing = fire.

as for the snake... rattle bites are BAD if you don't get immediate attention and he was home alone. He would have been fubar.
I don't worry too much about me I worry more about my dog.

i walk out onto my parents front portch and one is hanging off the over-hang..about the size of a folded in half dollar bill. told my bro to get his BB gun out.. when he was creepin up on it, he nicked a stray web and sent the sucker into hiding down into the bricks...
when my dad sees a quarter sized one out in the garage he just smashes it...with his thumb nail

Um, that is wrong. Bug bombs kill spiders. We had a bunch of spiders in our shed, I put a bug bomb in the middle, closed the door, and the next day they were all dead. This will work if there is a medium amount of spiders. However, if you have a bunch of egg sacks and spiders nesting in cracks, then call an exterminator.
