is this the best option for adding audio aux in?

I did some searching around and couldnt find much, other than this product from Jazzyengineering. are there any other products like this and does anyone have any pics of what it looks like when its done. the diagram below doesnt show where the aux in jack is or would be located.
http://www.jazzyengineering.com/prod...products_id=45

im not sure I want to change out the head unit. id like to spend less than 100 bucks so I can hook up my mp3 player... iv tried many different fm modulaters and they all suck.

thanks for the help.

For less than 100 bucks, this is your only option.

Umm... I use the iTrip from Griffin and it worked great. I changed stations once driving across the country. I had no trouble with it whatsoever.

The jazzyengineering solution is MUCH better than any FM transmitter. I wired up my own cable for the Foz, but this is a great solution for a lot of people. Definitely worthwhile.

woah, you plug it in right next to your cupholder? that is pretty awesome. So where exactly can you put the aux in, anywhere you want?

i suggest finding a nice deck and buying it off ebay for cheap.

the sound that the stock deck provides is horrible.

for those of you that have this product what does this mean "This requires playing a silent CD to prevent hearing two things at once" -does that mean i need to put in a blank cd-r in the cd drive? still not sure how the line in is going to get roughted but maybe that will make more sence when i start taking things apart. Iv got an STi and that little area by the cupholder is being occupied by the DCCD controler. I may try to rig somthing through the ash tray... has anyone done somthing like that?

It means that it uses the CD aux in lines, which also get used by the internal CD player.

The deck wont do anything with the CD input unless it sees a valid CD in the drive playing. However, if you were to put a random, say NIN CD in there and hook this thing up, you'd get your NIN sound AND your iPOD sound mixed together. So, you need to burn a CD with a 74 minute track of silence (not the same as a blank CDR) and play that while playing the ipod. You will then be mixing silence form the CD and music from the ipod, and get sound just form the ipod.

i have this in my 05 sti. install was easy. i had a more difficult time thinking about where to route the cable. jazzy sent me a cd with a 65min long empty track. i just play that and turn my ipod on. works great no problems!
