i think sushi house in alameda is quite comparable to todai. So it just breaks down to where you are located.

Although there is a wait time of 20-25 minutes at sushi house for a small table, and much longer if you are with a large group.

Last i've been to kitaro on a sunday evening ~6-7, there was tables available.

Sushi House is great if you like rolls. They're fresh, they taste good, and are well priced for those who are ballers on a budget. That's about it.

truya on el camino. its my buddy scotts restaurant. the restaurants got a good vibe.
sozo in pleasanton near the ghetto pleasanton skatepark.
sushi avenue in san leandro on marina near the car dealerships.

Blowfish in Santana Row. Great if you want some sushi to go with your...sushi. Feels kinda fake but the sushi there is oretty high grade. Drinks are pretty to look at, but you guys might want to stay away from them as they ooze with estrogen. Sushi-o-Sushi on El Camino has a very comfy feel and it's a bit pricey, though not as pricey as blowfish.
