Best DMV to go to?

What's the best DMV to go to around the south/east/peninsula? I'm talking about the shortest lines, etc. Im used to going to the fremont one, but now that Hayward is closed its an even bigger nightmare to go there. Anyone know of a low volume DMV around? Any help is appreciated!

Hands down, best DMV location is San Mateo. Go after 12pm and there is usually little or no wait.

THings must've changed there. It used to be lines out the door. I usually avoid DMV these days.

+1 for San Mateo. I've gone there and the most i've waited is 15 minutes without appointment.

Ive gone to DMV in Pleasanton and it was a 15min wait and that was at 3pm. You can check the wait times on DMV's website too, the wait for Pleasanton was usually 5-10mins throughout the day.

Any DMV is usually quick if you get there like 10 min. before it opens. I only go to SF and Daly City, and they're the most crowded ones. If I do this, there are usually about 10-15 people lined up waiting at the door, but there are enough clerks to handle them in about 5 min. and then it's your turn.

Also, make sure your DMV is open before you go. They are closing on most fridays now due to the budget stuff.

DOUBLE CHECK THIS!!!! Saw a posting at the Pleasanton office claiming they'd be closed every Friday this month except for the 1st Friday. Not sure if thats the same schedule other offices are on.

Yeah, I dodged the bullet on that. Didn't check, and luckily it was open, but happened to be the ONLY friday it was open for the month.

^ I was going to recommend the LG office too. I have had really good luck there but whenever possible I use AAA's DMV counter

Even though it isn't in the OP's range, I have to give my vote to the SF DMV near the Panhandle. They get it done quickly there, which surprised me considering the volume of customers.

The exact opposite and worst DMV I've been to is Daly City. Just a zoo.

Daly City DMV is horrible. I've gone there for pretty much everything including permit/license testing, title/registration, and more. Workers are rude (ha.) and it's just crowded in there.

The San Mateo DMV is awesome. I've only been here once but it was my best DMV experience. The staff is a lot more friendlier and there's barely any lines (I even went in around 4pm!).
