Best Deal/Price in Bay Area?
Hi, I'm a little new here. I'm thinking about purchasing a WRX sedan in the next few months and need some advice.
I've never owned a Subaru before and noticed there don't seem to be very many dealers compared to other makes. I'd be willing to wait a little longer on the purchase if it means that the price will be lower (I can make do with the car I have for now). Do you folks think the WRX will be discounted from MSRP when the STi comes out?
All the dealers I've visited wanted MSRP for the standard WRX. I am looking for a standard WRX sedan w/o any additional options. Could anyone share the price they paid for their WRX? Any good dealer experiences? I live in Antioch, CA so I can travel as far as San Jose or Sacramento if the dealer will work on the price.
Thanks!

whatever you do
DO NOT GO TO STEVEN'S CREEK SUBARU.
i think every other subaru dealership in the bay area gets good reviews around here...
ron price, daly city
carlsen, redwood city
subaru of santa cruz
good luck.

Subaru of Santa Cruz!!!
Just picked mine up last night. Great deal, great people and an overall excellent experience. Felt more like going to a friend's house than to a car dealer. I give them a big huge two thumbs up, nevermind the drive back on HWY17 is a great sales pitch!!
Several other dealers scared me away, and I ended up buying a car from Subaru of Santa Cruz - for people that know me, that's all I need to say.
Take care and good luck,
Jacob

Also, sorry if my original post was confusing. What I meant was I want to purchase a standard WRX. I was hoping when the STi came out there might possibly be less demand for the standard WRX. Not likely I guess...
Thanks for the replies (also for the warnings). I'll check out some of those dealers soon.

Duane,
If your interested in a bare bones WRX, I got a good selection now. I work at Green Valley auto (Subaru).
We offer great prices, but don't take your car there for service.
If you need/ want to talk to me you can call my work number: 707-421-3300. Just ask for the Asian Ray (there are three Rays there). The other sales guys and gals don't know much about the WRXs, so beware. Most of them can't even open the hood without looking for the latch!
I will be working on Friday to Sunday this week.
If you want to e-mail me please do so.

WRX
You may want to try Diablo Subaru, in Walnut Creek. I am currently in the market for a WRX and I am told that it is a buyers market right now. The dealerships are having a hard time getting MSRP. They are currently selling at $2-300 over invoice. The name of the man I am working with is Tom. I don't remember his last name. He has some type of back injury. You can ask for him that way. I did that once already.
I am not sure what Walnut Creek has at invoice, but I was quoted by my credit union $23,200 with short throw shifter and arm extension. I think it even has upgraded alarm and subwoofer. I don't really car for those upgrades. I work with my credit union since they get fleet pricing usually $200 over invoice. They have a 4.9% interest rate.
Also Walnut Creek will definately be getting the first shipment of STI's. The owner has some affiliation with the docks in Oakland and has a high record of WRX sales.
good luck.
I can't wait to get my WRX. I just can't decide Silver or Blue!

STI
Also,
I am not considering the STI because it seems rediculous to spend so much money up front for a vehicle that will de-value so quickly. The only benfefit I can see if you are loaded with money is that everything is covered by warranty. Once we upgrade our Subies the warranties are VOID. Read your contract. It's best to put plenty of mile on your car before doing upgrades to make sure you didn't buy a lemon.
You may want to consider a used 02. I saw one on Craigs List for 21-22000. He has some pretty serious mods on it for the price.
Later.
