Ocean Beach is where most folks go. You can try Baker Beach as it's not as readily accessible as Ocean.

If you plan on a long bonfire at Ocean Beach dont park in the lot, park on the side streets. The cops frequently will clear out the parking lot if there's too much going on at night.

Pigeon Point on Highway 1, it's a private beach, but the people that own it don't care cause it's a huge area, plus there's a woodyard about a mile away

what cracks me up are those folks who burn pallets and stand around it, breathing in all the chemicals that they were soaked in.

There's also Muir beach in Marin. It's a fun drive out there too.

not really a bonfire place but moonrocks is cool. It is a fun drive and hike and the view is great of the ocean. Good sunset place for a date

Ocean Beach? I don't know why people are recommending it; lots of other people there and rangers check for alchohol (well not that you should have alcohol heh...)

Actually IMHO if you got a few buddies and just want to chill Ocean Beach is alright , but if you are planning some all night party with 30+ people it's best you spend time driving up and down the coast and scout out some remote location, I can think of a few spots near Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay but other people probably know more places than I do.

And then leave the nails they were assembled with on the beach...

The last few times we had fires in SF on the beach in the last couple years we were visited by cops, and this was like 6-15 people max. The last time (end of last year) we were told you couldn't have any fires south of Taraval at all, then a cop told us the only spot was straight out from the park, like park chalet north. Something about people in houses complaining about the smoke.

Ocean beach is the best for bonfires, but the last few times I went SFPD actually went over and made us put out the fires.

It is north of santa cruz, by bonny doon. Sweet drive up to it. Kinda sketch to find and you can't really ask for directions to "moonrocks" not many people know. If you want to check it out i'll give you directions
