Question BERKELEY folks, I need recommendations on chill places to take a date tonight!

So I'm trying to find a place in Berkeley to take a girl tonight. Just dinner and maybe a few drinks somewhere. I like chill/mellow places that have a cool atmosphere and *maybe* an eclectic food selection. Nothing fancy now, I'm poor. My buddy suggested Jupiter's for drinks n stuff. dont know where else to check out for dinner. He said just walk south down Shattuck from Jupiter's, or up Center toward campus, for some cool restaurants. What do you Cal folks think? You guy's are the master's of teh area!

Jupiters is cool or perhaps Blakes on Telegraph. This is always a tough question since there are so many damn retaurants in berkeley. North shattuck has a ton of more ethnic foods (thai, lao, indian, etc). Blakes is a 3 level retaurant/bar that has mostly american style food

Blakes is cool, Ive never eaten there but I know people who like it. Barney's on College in Oakland has the best Burgers in the Bay Area and you could probably get out of there for less then $25, however they dont have a full bar if that is a requirement. Another thing you might want to do, that is if the fog clears, is go up claremont to girizzly peak and look at the view, it kicks *** and costs nothing.

F' Berkeley. You some excitement on your date. Go up the road to Richmond and run down the streets screaming the N word. Now that's a date.

Cha-am for Thai is good (on Shattuck) and not too expensive. Afterwards, you can walk to Triple Rock Brewery for a beer.

Jupiter is OK for pizza and beer but I like Lanesplitters more; you can't beat the 7-10 split: 2 slices any style and a pint for $7.

for really really good pizza go to zachery's chicago style pizza..one one college and another one in north berkeley. have to look it up. prob not a date place but since people were mentioning pizza, i thought i'd throw it in because it beats the hell out anywhere else. they got beer tho place is crowded as hell though.

cha-am is my personal favorite for sit down food...can't beat it for quality/price
