Maybe that's the thing, I almost never take shots anymore. Maybe on my birthday, and even then I only really like shots of tequila. I'd much rather relax with a nice scotch on the rocks or a beer than take shot after shot. My aging body just can't drink like I could back in the day.

For good quality stuff like GG, it's better to sip than to shoot. You'll enjoy it more that way.

This.
The only time I like vodka is when it actually tastes like something, try just doing a double vodka with a squirt of lemon or just a twist, dont try to filter out all the alcohol flavor, enjoy it!

Ciroc Red Berry or Sky Pineapple chased with Sprite or 7up. Both can be had for under $20 and tastes a lot smoother than Grey Goose.

For those on a really tight budget, then as someone previously suggested, try Seagram with any sort of iced tea chaser.

Kirkland is where it's at! It's actually drinkable which is impressive. I had my reservations but it was actually good.

buy local!

with so many great distilleries in northern california, i don't understand why people support these large, multinational brands. someone already mentioned hanger 1 in alameda, but there's also a fantastic micro-distillery on treasure island (http://www.sfvodka.com) and charbay in wine country (http://www.charbay.com/). they also make one of the most interesting whiskies i've ever tried, distilled from lagunitas pilsner.

i can think of many other reasons why you shouldn't drink grey goose, but in the end, there's only one...

as a full time bartender and part time drunk, i can tell you that if you heard about it in a rap song, it's probably overpriced and overrated.

Hah! GG suddenly doesn't taste so great...

I'm getting me a Kirkland anyways. I want the taste, not the label... and definitely not the douchebag status.

My friend was about to buy another bottle of Ciroc for our Vegas trip, but I said, "Dude, just get Kirkland, it's basically Grey Goose." "..but I just want a nice bottle." "When you're drinking and it's free for the people who stop by, who cares?" He ended up with the Kirkland and we let the good times roll.
