Definitely trying Kirkland then!!! Thanks all... after that I'll try the others.

I'm not solely a vodka drinker... it really depends on my mood, the time of year, the weather, what I'm eating, and many other factors.

I go from beer to sake to tequila to whiskey to red wine to vodka to whatever... (not all at the same time of course). It all depends on how I feel. Last month I was feeling the red wines... before that was wheat beers... before that was sake's.

Right now, I'm in the vodka mood... for straight or on the rocks. I don't want it heavy or filling. I want something to sip and I want it pure.

One thing I don't rotate through is mixed drinks. Save that for social events when someone else has already done it.

You can buy the cheapest vodka you can find and run it through a brita water filter a couple-few times and it magically becomes the best vodka ever.


(Edit: lowend's post shows an actual liquor filter... We were ghetto and used a brita. lol)

Kirkland Beer is actually made by Gordon Birsch in San Jose.

Yup... they don't make a damned thing. Everything they have is through contracts. They basically say... we'll buy this much of your product and sell it in Costco if you sell us this much at a reduced price bottled as "kirkland."

They do so much quantity that it's worth it for the parent companies. That's why kirkland stuff is usually pretty high quality. I tried their taquila the other day and it's pretty damn good.

Same thing with the gas. They buy gas from the people they get the best kick back from. Right now I think it's 76 or Shell, can't remember.

When I was at Costco and the dude was selling the kirkland brand of stuff, said it's distilled twice more, made at the exact same location as Goose itself.

+1. I bought a 1L Kirkland "Small Batch Bourbon" for $20 the other day. For the money, it's pretty good. I believe it's a Jim Beam product, similar to some of their other small batch stuff, i.e. similar to **** Creek with less age, and also similar to Bakers.
