Bay Area zero tolerance for modified cars...... (reffed last night)

So, I know a few people on here, I had a blacked out 03' wagon and before that I had a Z06 vette with straight pipes, before last night I had NEVER pulled pulled over for anything other than an actual moving violation, I just bought my 04' STI about 3 weeks ago, and it's been by far my favorite car yet! It has the most stock looking exhaust you can get, and is fairly quiet for what it's worth (cobb catted TBE). I've been reading about everybody getting reffed and until last night I thought it was all just wrong place at the wrong time, by 1 am this morning I had 1 state ref and had been pulled over 3 times (including the ref) from San Jo to Foster City. The 2 cops after the state ref cop just let me go as as soon as I showed them the ticket, but what a pain in the ****!!!

I'm thinking this is NO coincidence that people all over the entire bay are all of the sudden getting pulled over and ticketed like crazy for this, I'm thinking this is their way of pulling in that extra buck each night, it's been something they've been able to bust people for, for years now but have just never been extremely harsh about, as soon as the economy started traveling down the $hi??er, they figure hey why not pull in an extra few G's a night by screwing with all these kids and their quiet but modified exhaust systems.

ARRRRRRRGH!

tell me it's not just me who's frustrated

uh, can u give more info, what did they ref you for? just the exhaust? you are allowed to have an exhaust only, if ur car is 6000 lbs or less and under 95 db noise level. did u have an intake, bov, fmic, etc.?

I got reffed for JUST the exhaust, he knew I had an intake but didn't give me any crap for it, and yeah, I got the ref in San Jose, then got pulled over in mountain view dropping a friend off, then got pulled over coming back to my house in Foster City from 10pm - 1:30am

I promise you, the exhaust is quiet compared to most!

ive gotten 3 tickets in the last 4 days here in SF.

-tints on my STI
-tints on my integra
-3rd brake light out on my company van

i dont think its bad luck or a coincidence that more and more people are getting tickets. when im at work I drive around the whole city and lately ive been noticing a lot more police pulling over cars.

Donde.

My exhaust is a bit on the noisy side and I work off Ramona and Hamilton, in downtown.

did they write you up for loud exhaust or modded emissions?

If they did it for loud exhaust my understanding is that the ref cannot add more violations so as long as you pass the sound test you'll be fine.

If they pulled you over for modded emissions system then put the stock cats back on.
