Bay Area ECU Tuner
#31
The way you said it was fine, just but bit unclear is all. In any case, don't you want to see what CEL's you're car is throwing before getting a tune? It seems like a logical first step. I mean, a reflash might make the CEL turn off, but it doesn't mean your car is magically fixed.
I believe AutoHQ pulled the code and recommended the ECU reflash....

Really, Carnerd, who are you? When did Kevin talk to you?
Also, the cost of EcuTek license is about in the 500 or less range depending on who you buy it from. Tuning usually costs more. Many tuners charge in the 500 range, but prices really vary depending and who you go to and what you need, how long it takes, etc etc...lots of factors. Maybe vivid is selling you an off the shelf map rather than a custom tune. If you are buying EcuTek license and getting a custom tune for $500, that's a good price.
We are one of the most expensive shops I know of to get tuned, mostly because we have a lot of overhead in bringing Shiggy here from Japan. We bring him here because we value his experience and we have 100 confidence/trust in his tuning, especially that any car he tunes is ready to be tuned and is tuned safely and smoothly.

There is no way I would ever bother with an Ecutek license nowdays. Either get the accessport and utilize its features (cel reader and multiple maps) or use the open ecu stuff and get a custom tune by a good tuner.
I have the accessport with custom tune - the ap is a great product (plus you can easily sell it if you ever need to).
