I know what you mean, after all those mods the car gets very picky with when it wants to run perfectly. After market parts are never as good as stock in terms of how well they work together in the car. After you mod something to that degree you lose the stock reliability.

I did that with my RS, it was like a sickness, I couldn't stop modding! after a while though it got old, always having to worry about something.

Have you thought about just getting a real STi or EVO? Getting an STi and lightly modding it with like a COBB AP + Exhaust goes a LOOOONG Way. The car will not only be reliable as hell, but it will be as fast as hell and never break. You wont have to worry about anything and you will have factory backed power.

When you drive a stock STi it's not NEARLY the same as driving a lightly modded one, even one with just a cat back, the whole feel the of car is different, I know its hard to believe, but trust me! If you want, you can drive my 07 STi and feel what it's like to have a very lightly modded STi. It's soooo much better then a standard WRX, even with all the mods. The whole car is just different, from the transmission to the DCCD, its a whole different beast and you can keep it factory reliable!

I thought my RS was the best thing ever, I never thought I'd love a car as much as it, but when I stepped into a modded STi, everything changed! That car responds to mods sooooo well, and the transmission is like 5000x better then the stock 5 speed! OMG, night and day diff!

So yeah, if you're not a believer, try driving my STi to see how different it is compared to a quiet stock one. (I have a Cobb AP + GST tune, cat back exhaust, and a racing seat, otherwise it's stock.)

I had a 2.5RS modded to all hell, an 06 WRX that was modded, and now an 07 STi with very light mods, and I can tell you that the STi is soooo much better then the previous cars, not just cuz of power, but overall, just the transmission changes the way the car feels big time! Now combine every little thing an STi has, from Transmission to the brembos, it has so much over a WRX and it's epic! Then add some basic power mods and you have a factory reliable car that smokes just about anything on the road!

I'm not trying to sell an STi, I'm not a saleman... I'm just trying to help you out in your quest to find a new car. I hope you don't write subaru off cuz you had one previously, I'm just hoping you give an STi a chance, and don't base your decision off a STOCK one! The stock STi's are not anything like the even slightly modded ones!

This is the first step to thinning it down, the 5 final cars will be voted on (in person??) at the meet I think
thats correct. this is only the first stage of the competition. where we introduce all the contenders we think are car show material.

after this round, we (Greg and myself) will tally up all the votes and narrow it down to a top 5. these competitors will then be voted for and we will reveal the results at BAM 09.

keep those votes/ mods list/ pics coming guys. i want everyone to have a chance at voting.
