It was foggy as hell when I got to the top though! I could see cloud cover on my way up too. I'm not sure how close I even got to the observatory because I turned around shortly after I realized my car was wider than the lane and I couldn't even see the edge of the road
I have confirmation that the sky has been clear of haze down near Morgan Hill. We could go to Henry Coe State Park since most of the entrances are open 24 hours a day.
The coast has the chance of being foggy, ruining everything.

damn, i want to go but i'm too far from SJ!
also for people with Nikons (probably other camera makes too), watch out for the lenses that goes a bit pass infinity. if you turn it to the end, it might not be infinity and all your stars will be out of focus. also electronic cameras kill batteries on long exposures. make sure you have plenty of batteries.

No, I think that was SubyN00by and MyNikonLens. I've always been down in Monterey until recently, so I never bothered with meeting up with folks up here until now.

The peak hours will be between midnight and down, so I was thinking of meeting up somewhere around 11:30?
Who all is actually wanting to go? As I said before, one car will be best if we go up towards Lick. If we go to Henry Coe, one or two cars will be ideal in case we want to move to a different spot of the park.

Any reason you wouldn't want to go down to Henry Coe? Distance wise, they are both about the same, and Henry Coe would actually be faster to get to depending on how high up Mt Hammy we went.
