Possibly, because no shop would do it.

*cough* Mach III *cough* There is a guy (I will not name names) that shows up from time to time to my local meet that prides on having a 225 wide tire stretched on a 18x9.5, or may be even 10, rim (guess who encouraged him and did the work?) and all for the stupid "Herra Frush approved" sticker...and I think he admitted once that he now rubs/binds at all speeds and has to drive super duper carefully especially since he has mismatched coil-overs front and rear, so the car can be as dumped as possible, etc etc etc...

I am not to bash styles either, but when people start spending thousands of dollars to IMHO make their cars worst off and more unreliable, than I will start having problems...but to each their own I guess, at the end of the day its their cars and money...

Lots of tire shops out here do it for the drifters I know, but I think it is because some of the people that mount them do it on their own 240s and VWs etc

Shops like NTB which is basically like Americas Tire etc

But if you were to try to stick a turn, ie you want to grip it, there would be immense load on the tire, and yes, they can pop of the bead.

Touge: I dunno, cause most togue is in Japan, and they do like to slide in the japanese shows. But I doubt they stretch to that extreme level. Maybe a little. Like 245 on 9". not like 225 on 10
lots of drifters on d1 level and others have been stretching for years. I have seen 195/50 on an 8, it looks a little odd, but after seeing how ueo katsuhiro drives his car, and the abuse the front tires took, he NEVER de-beaded his tires. I have 255/40 on an 8.5, 205/50 on an 8, 235/40 on a 9, and 225/45 on a 9.5 on my personal vehicles. I'm as guilty as anyone else of stretching, and when i saw this car in person i was thinking "wow, thats unsafe" and also "that thing must handle like **** with that much rear camber."

here is where this gets weird... my 225/45 on the 9.5, has as much tread width as a 245/45 potenza on a 8''. i have never seen a pro driver with a 215/40 on a 10 like this car above.

I agree that this is too much stretch for TV.

If he IS aware of the consequences of driving on tires stretched that much, then let him be. Let his own conscience- or potentially the law- take care of it. As long as he isn't hauling *** while endangering other drivers.

Boring and pointless. I never understood the allure of taking a car that can handle like its on rails with minimal effort and destroy it with stuff like that.

Not my money or my car, so whatever.

I run 255's with proper fitment. Herra functional.

i really don't care. people build their cars for different reasons. some want a track car and other want a show car. they're spending their own money and time so i say let them do whatever they wish to their car. just my thoughts.

Jeez, how much tire pressure do you have to run to keep those on the bead?
