BAIC BBQ/Softball Game Summer 08
#77
I just called to check on add'l availability at our 2 proposed sites as well as to re-confirm the dates I looked into a couple days ago. Here was the list, which all are on a Sun: 27 July, 10 Aug, 17 Aug & 24 Aug. Cardoza Park is not available for any of them. And here's what's free for BOTH the softball field & picnic area @ Gill Park:
1. Sun, Aug 10 <--- the week after the 8th Annual Meet @ Quarry Lakes
- or -
2. Sun, Aug 24
From a couple posts up, the rental fee is $55 total. We get the picnic area (grills & tables) plus the field for 2 hrs. Alcohol may be served/consumed by those of legal age.
We still need a Milpitas resident to "volunteer" to submit our application & payment in person.
Some info on Gill Memorial Park:
This 8.1-acre park has a lighted ball diamond, 3 tennis courts, 2 handball courts, and a basketball court, plus 4 barbeques, 8 tables, play equipment, restrooms, and parking for 20. (located @ Paseo Refugio & Santa Rita)
Although the parking lot is small (esp. compared to the 133 capacity of Cardoza), there is plenty of street parking alongside the park. We'll just have to be outta range of foul ***** along the 3rd base/left field side. And, don't worry, folks. My homerun power is mainly dead center field, so only peeps on the single tennis court or B-ball court are in the danger zone. No subies will be in jeopardy.

if you're gonna check into SJ neighborhood parks, don't bother. alcohol is NOT allowed. it's only allowed in their regional parks, by permit. and that's too bad since picnic areas in neighborhood parks are FREE on 1st-come, 1st-serve basis.
i dunno 'bout everyone else, but i wanna be able to knock back a few.
