BAIC BBQ/Softball Game Summer 08

What up BAIC,

Since summer is approaching and the weather is getting nicer, I thought it would be cool to have a BAIC BBQ and softball game. Would you guys be interested? We would just have to rent out a field with a BBQ area. I know there are bunch of fields in SSF, Fremont, and San Jose area. If there is enough interest, we should for sure make it happen.

oh yea, if you strike out in softball....you buy beer

screw that, most people will probably strike out on purpose then. Let everyone else benefit from others non athletic ability

but for real, lets make this happen. I think it would be alot of fun. I think it will probably turn into a car show/BBQ/softball game/some drunken BAICs. Make sure you have a designated driver if you plan on gettin tossed.

Cool

to the OP: I'm down for this! I haven't been able to commit to playing on a regular team for well over a year. But I know I could squeeze something like this into my schedule though.

Several weeks back, I know there was talk of getting a game going in the South Bay...

So there's definitely some interest.

Make it happen!

the hardest part is finding a field that is not to far from everyone. any ideas? remember there has to be a good size parking lot, field of course, and BBQ area

In using the same rationale that the folks planning this year's annual BAIC meet, my only thoughts on a place that's "centrally located" for most is Central Park/Lake Elizabeth in Fremont. I've played softball there once a loooooonngggg time ago and have been there for picnics a few times as well. Google maps shows that they've got several fields, plus other areas to play other sports, too. Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly how far the picnic/BBQ areas are from the field.

I was also thinking of a couple parks in Milpitas... Gill Park (only one field though) and Cardoza Park (multiple fields). I'm pretty sure Gill has a BBQ, but I'm not 100% sure since it was a while back that I picnicked & balled out there. I don't recall what's out at Cardoza other than the fields since I was only there for league games in the evening.

But wherever is decided, I think we should make sure that there is more than ONE field, unless we want to go about reserving it. I don't think that will be necessary by picking a spot w/ multiple fields.

Just my $0.02.

I"ve been to Gill nice park like you said only one field. They also have basketball and tennis courts.

Now parking on the other hand sorta sucks. Everyone on the street

lake elizabeth's parking lot sucks. depends on the day cuz there are other sporting events that take place there. one time i tried hosting a bbq and everyone parked in different lots rather than together cuz there was a soccer tournament being held.
