You sure??? I thought it was still up in the air.

I know Heavenly's Gondola is practically across the street. But if we do get Subaru involved, I don't see how we wouldn't end up at Kirkwood since Subaru is the resort's official car-maker.

Plus, it seems that most folks will be riding/skiing at least 2 days, so I plan on hitting up KW no matter what. I'm sure there will be others who'd wanna roll there, too.

Last, if we go w/ the 3-Day special mentioned in Post #205, we'll have a number of choices (i.e. maybe hit up KW or Sierra as we head back on Mon).

Kirkwood is about an hour and a half away from South Lake. I'd easily drive an hour and a half to ride Kirkwood then ride Heavenly.

Hour and a half from South Shore? What road are you driving? I only take about 30-45mins from the casinos. Of course thats when the roads are clean.
But I agree rather ride Kirkwood than Heavenly.

Yea when the roads are clear I've made it in 30-45 mins. But if it's really cold out or snowy it's taken me an hour and a half. I've gone down 88 from 89 when the temp outside was reading 0, only because the car couldn't read negative numbers.

Ok so everyones on the list at this point..Good

We changed hotels for the better(Blue Jay Lodge). You can stay anywhere you like but hopefully we can have some people stay in the same hotel...ok good.

We have a Set date...good

things that are still up in the air(well i fell they are when reading this tread)

1) Place to meet before we head up there.( i was thinking Khols in concord)
We also need to have like a rest stop before we hit the mountains for people like me that get 20mpg. And to eat and stretch out our legs.

2) What slopes we are going to go on

3) Somethinhg else we should do....Someone find a sweet road to go on.(and good place to meet with Reno i-club and take some pics!

4) Huuuuuhhhhh i know im missing something....

I'm on the other side of the bridge in Benicia, so I'd just hook up w/ y'all somehow just after yourl caravan heads across. Or possibly in Fairfield to meet up w/ others folks fr the northern counties (i.e. Marin, Sonoma, Napa & Solano) or up in Sac to meet w/ the SRiC crew.

For the pre-mtn pit stop, I've always stopped in Cameron Park just into the foothills. On the right side (eastbound) of Hwy 50 at the Cameron Park Dr exit, there are plenty of gas stn's (76, Chevron & Shell), a number of places to eat, a Safeway (mmm... hot deli breakfast paninis) for more on-road snak'nz. Anything we might need in a pit stop is here. (google map of area) I'd occasionally stop here on the way home to hit up Boards N Motion (in the same lot as Safeway). In typing this, I just realized my pit stop in Auburn (Foresthill exit) along I-80 for North Tahoe resorts has the other BNM location. Hmmmmm?

I already asked a couple times about the latest news on Subaru & the resorts, namely Kirkwood. Do you have any updates on talks w/ them?

Also, did you happen to look at Blue Jay Lodge's 3-Day special? See Post #205 for link. Discounted lift tix to area resorts are included & fully refundable, if not used.

I might drive up to Kirkwood early saturday morning and ride all day. Don't know yet if I'll stay up in South Shore or drive back that night.

Reply to boardoholic-

Good stuff! Shingle Springs is a great place.

For the meet up..we have people in south bay that have a while to drive up to concord. This is what we should do. I will be incharge of a sertin amount of people meeting up in concord. You will be in charge of people from north bay to meet somewhere then drive up with us. I will give u my number and when we drive by the area were your holding the meet i will call you to drive with us .

Kirkwood will not give us a deal. Same rates apply for everyone(expencive)

Cool. I was thinking as more of the logistics get dialed in, the peeps spearheading the various mini-caravans can exchange #'s to coordinate the eventual mass assemblage (what a funky word ). I don't mind taking the reins for the north counties. I'm totally for this trip, but I've yet to sign up for all my winter classes so I'm not sure what days I can commit to. However, the chances are really, really good for heading up early Fri morning & staying til at least Sun. If I end up w/ a Fri class, hopefully I won't have anything significant to miss (I've had instructors purposely schedule quizzes on Fridays ) so I can play hookey! I'll know 100% "for sure" right around the new year.

Lift Tix:
Wherever we go, it's total @$$ rapage if ya don't have a season pass. I know Heavenly would be uber convenient since it's right in town, but they are BANK!!! The only discount (if we can call it that) I know is the $70 direct-to-lift deal @Lucky & SaveMart. For Kirkwood, Costco usually sells a 2-pk where the tix come out to maybe 50-55 bucks a head. This season their walk-up price is $72 for adults (19-64). Also, Sierra ain't a bad option either. I dunno any deals off the top of my head, but their walk-up rates are $69 for adults (23-64) & $54 for young adults (13-22). There are prolly a few other deals out there. I'll keep my eyes & ears peeled for leads.

Last, I'll give Blue Jay Lodge a call this wknd to find out more about the extras in the 3-Day Package. Plus, I'll find out more about the price quotes (if they are in fact the nightly "per room" rates) that ipozestu (Jeff) got from 'em.

Were not really running out of time but we need to really organize this. I feel that important info is on random pages and people are missing it. Hopefully soon i will put up all the important info on the first page and delete the "story"

Boardoholic your the man to take charge of the North bay and maybe even Sac. I understand classes might interfere with this trip. Just do what you can to help me out.

What im thinking is that we should have a meeting. We really need to lay down some info and answer questions. We can give out papers with the detials of the trip. I feel this will make things a lot smoother..What you think?
