Back to quiet...
So, I spent last night "prepping" the WRX for my road trip back East over Christmas (leave out next Friday). Yes, I'm DRIVING the WRX back to my parents place in Alabama (2275 miles....each way) and probably on from there when I go visit relatives in the Carolinas and GA.
Threw back on the stock wheels (since they have M+S tires on them) and dialed back the rear swaybar from 24mm to 20mm (don't want a "twitchy" car if I have to drive much on snow and ice). I also threw back on the stock Exhaust. I like my Borla, but I could really see the DRONE getting annoying after being in the car for 12 hours
Man, I'd forgotten how QUIET (and pretty wussy sounding ) the stock WRX exhaust really is!
On the upside, at least the XM radio sounds better now
When I get back, the car gets coilovers, the exhaust back (although I am gonna weld in a resonator to quiet it a bit), uppipe, and a 3rd cat eliminator. Should make a nice combo!

We're talking about a man who's station wagon weighs about 1200 pounds LESS than his 4 sedan AND... practically nothing on said sedan is original except for maybe the chassis. If he bought a 3rd car to keep as a daily driver what do you think the chances are that it will stay stock for very long?
Right... zilch!

Damn Joe, took the words out of my mouth!
Yep, about all that's left OEM on the Impala is the frame and metal body panels (bumper covers and rear spoiler are not OEM), and motor internals. I'm working on fixing that motor issue in the not-so-distant future . Basically once I get done with the next "round" of WRX mods (what I listed above), the next thing is getting the parts and doing the Impala motor. When done, should be about 400-450 HP (and close to 500 ft-lbs of torque ) AND still be able to pass CA smog....at least out the tailpipe .
So yeah, although the idea of a car that I never mod and just "drive" is nice......well my WRX IS that car
