What's even worse is what someone told me the other day.....Supposedly cops now attend classes on performance mods and are able to identify things like boost controllers, turbo times, illegal exhausts and all sorts of other things under the hood. And they have the right to pull people over under suspision of having illegal mods. Basically if they see a big tip under the bumper they can pull you over and check out your car. Their logic is that if you have a big tip you have a modified exhaust thus you have even more mods to supplement the exhaust. I really hope this is all hearsay because here in San Jose if you even fat wrong cops are all over your a$$.

i got pulled over a year ago and had my Apex-i 60mm gauge in my driver side air vent and the cop asked me if it was for nitrous, i said no and then he checked my trunk what an @$$....

Lowered frame (or any other part) that is lower than the lowest point of the wheel rim (24008 VC)
I believe some truck and Harley has MUCH louder exhaust then a well tuned after market exhaust system.

actually, i agree with most of the laws listed on that page. loud fart cans, illegal lights/markers, rumbling bass...we don't need any of that "polluting" the roads. as for harleys/trucks, i agree with that too...they need to include them in writing these laws.
the way i see it, we mod our cars with this knowledge in mind. i don't like cops, but if you get pulled over for any of the above violations, you willingly put yourself at risk.
you know the consequences before modding -- if you get caught, deal with it!

On my Impala, one of the mods I have done is an LED red bowtie. Looks pretty cool at night......but note that I do NOT run it when I am driving the car. Hey, it's a red light to the front, and the car already looks enough like a cop car
According to this though, the light is illegal, even though I never use it when the car is being driven on a public road!
I have a buddy who has strobes in his show car (that does get street driven). Once again, never operates them on the road (since that is pretty blatantly the wrong thing to do), but he is STILL breaking the law here.
I can understand the laws that affect the car while it is being operated on a public road. But laws on stuff that just happens to be ON the car, even if the items aren't in use while on the road.....sheesh!

they forgot to mention that if you have illegal lights, that it is legal if you have them covered so that they cannot be used on public roads, i.e. extra driving lights and stuff
