Woohoo!!!! Unfortunately it looks like we're going to miss the rain though . Stratos, is all of your house related craziness taken care of? Are you gonna make it?
ChrisW, do you have your replacement springs yet?
Cheers, Joe

Yes, the meeting is REALLY mandatory
BTW, you'll also need your current SCCA membership card, and make sure the car is in good mechanical shape (nothing loose, good lugnuts, good wheel bearings, etc).

The last time I went, I never attended any meeting....and that was back when non-members could participate....I just arrived, signed up for my group, went, and was done....
I do have a membership now, but seriously doubt that I could make it that early on a Sunday Morning (unless they're giving away free Irish Coffees!)....with all the late hours I work and isht....
Are they going to tell me to screw off when I arrive after 10AM for GS-N???

Since you haven't run this year and won't qualify for a trophy I suggest you run out of group in the second session of the day. On the top of the card write "FUN-RUN" in very big letters. As for which class to run in I'd choose something where the speed of your car won't potentially break the flow (so don't sign up for the same run group as OSP or Super Stock). Note that you still have to do your work assignment even if you write "FUN-RUN" on your card.
Have fun, Joe

Do you mean that I can run again for additional laps, or ???
Why would it matter if I haven't accumulated points when I would be running in Novice anyways, which requires that you don't compete in more than 8 races per season....besides, I want to see how well I do in my actual class, not some other class....
Please explain, I haven't done this since '97.

David, what mods do you have? Do you have a boost controller? That would put you into the Street Mod category. You can always compare the times later. Fun Run means that you are not running for points. So you can any group you want. I am running street mod Novice 8 because I have an MBC. I run group 6 and work group 8.

I don't get it....why would I want to do that, if it means that I have to hang out long after I've already worked the course (GS-N works group #2, runs in group#4, so I can take off after I'm done!)

You are NOT eligible for the Novice class if you have: competed in more than 33% of any prior year's events (e.g., for the 2001 series: regular series plus slush series equals 24 events; 33% is less than 8 events. You are ineligible if you ran 8 or more events in 2001.)

So, if in the period of one year (not the immediate year but ANY PREVIOUS YEAR) you ran in more than 33% of that year's events then you can not run in the novice class. In your case I believe you said that the last time you ran was in '97. There were 21 total events in 1997. 33% of 21 (21 * 0.33 ) is 6.93. That means if you ran 7 event in '97 you can no longer run in the novice class. If you ran 6 events or less in '97 then you do qualify as a novice (so long as you haven't won a trophy, or competed in more than 33% of the events in a following year).
Cheers, Joe
