Yup, I got third. Peter and Shane who beat me were running R compounds so I'm content with that.

Unhappy

Well, to say the least I'm pretty frustrated with the car (and my driving) right now. It SHOULD be a good 2-3 seconds faster than it is, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Ed,

don't get frustrated. The WRX is a difficult beast to drive at the limits. I had a difficult transition from my DSM to the WRX.

You have to be ultra smooth in the WRX to go fast. Even I have problems with this since I could toss the DSM any way I wanted and still be fast.

I guess what's frustrating though is I feel like I've gotten SLOWER in the car over the last 6 months despite the mods!

Nope, I'm on coilovers (JIC) and swaybars now.....basically same suspension that Rob M. has. So you can see why I'm pretty frustrated to be running 1-2 seconds slower than the DS WRX drivers......who I was right up there even with back when I did run DS!

I know that Lorry, Martin and Tim have improved as drivers......so that is part of it......but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect I should be able to run at least even with them in a car that is more prepared when I DID run even with them back when the car was less prepared!

heh heh.... Not laughing at you Ed, but with you. I know exactly how you feel. Rob, Lorry, and my own co-drover were beating me for most of last year when I was on race rubber and they were essentially running stock on falkins.

I think racing the gen 3 RX-7 helped me with this. You had to be smooth with the throttle and brakes or the tail would slide - fun but not quick.
