Auto-X: Co-Drive Program?
Hi all.
With the cost of gas these days, I was thinking of ways to cut down on the cost of auto-x'ing. We seem to have a big enough group, and enough single drivers, that we should look at a co-drive program. I am not really sure how it would work, but with the cost of gas, we can easily spend $10-$15 each (may or may not include bridge toll), for the travels to and from site.
Say that teams consists of two people. Instead of having two people go from point A to point B and vice versa and spending $10-$15 each, they can team up and co-drive an auto-x event. Together, they can save money by carpooling to the event, splinting toll, and splitting the cost of gas. Not to mention the benefits of having a co-driver. More looks at the course, warmed up tires, coordination between driver in order to improve driving, etc.
Financial Breakdown (Estimated)
1 Driver
$35 Entrance Fee
$10-$15 in Gas (estimate)
$4 for toll
Total $55/driver
2 Driver
$35 x 2 Entrance Fee
$10-$15 in Gas (estimate)
$4 in toll
Total $90
$45/driver
Financially, $10 savings per a person. Easily could cover 2 meals from roach coach.
Just a thought.

i think your forgetting... tire wear, cost of fluids(oil and etc), brakes.... if its a serious codrive u might want to look into spending money on a seperate set of wheels and tires split in half between the team

True. But even so, those would be costs you'd still have to endure if you were a single driver. It is going to cost you the same per a person as it is if you had a co-drive for things like that. The only benefit may be that you save money by carpooling and a split bridge toll.

I remembered you mentioning about the Stromung catback. Keeping an eye out for a used one. Haven't seen one around lately. The extra torque would be really helpful.

Kevin - don't get a heavy SS or mild exhaust. Go to an exhaust shop and have them make it for you out of Aluminized steel. You can use whatever muffler you want. I prefer Magnaflow.
My catback cost me about $90. I'll show you sometime, it's STUPID straight.

Won't work the same.

But buying the muffler you want, and then having the pipe bent is much much cheaper and just as efficient.
