AUDT: New subsection maybe: NorCal Auto-X and Track Events

Hi all.

I was wondering if we should push for a subsection to help separate track and auto-x days from the general BAIC area and/or the meetings section. I figure it can be somewhere we can list all the upcoming motorsport events. I know that a bunch of us have been starting to start auto-x threads. I know, I know... I've been starting most of those threads. Whatever...

Anyways... what do you guys think?

If it includes rallycross and road rallies, then I say yes. Problem is, will people read a completely separate forum?

Good question. We should include Rally-x as well. I think we should just keep it as organized as possible. Maybe sticky events for the month.

We should agree on a way to title events to keep everything clean and organized. I usually title my threads,

Auto-X: Location - Date
ex. Auto-X: Oakland - Aug. 25th, 2007

Just need to keep it clean and up to date.

Whoever createss this section of i-club doesnt realize we need BAY AREA tech section...no ones gonna use the USA tech section.

Heres what should be common sense by now aka we shouldnt have to beg for it:

Bay Area i-club:
Subaru talk
Off topic
Tech (bay area specific tech) since everyone posts their tech stuff in places of high traffic
Classifieds
.....subaru related
.....random garage sale stuff
Meeting events donuts
.....Weekly meets
.....Track events

Forums with to many subforums suck *** and are hard to navigate. although I do think a "Bay Area Motorsports" subsection under Norcal classifieds and Meetings events would be a nice idea.

I think we should definitely do a Bay Area Motorsports subforum. I think the main thing is to keep it extremely organized. Maybe do it like this.

Bay Area Motorsports

-Archive (Archive of past events)
--List all old events here

-Stickied Events for the Month

-All other upcoming events

Maybe we can ask the mods to go ahead and start something, and we can use that as a pilot and make adjustments as needed.

While I agree that may be more organized in the future, to start all we need is one sub forum for motorsports. NASIOC motorsports is very active, and they only have one section and it works great. Expanding to fast just makes things confusing and people won't use it as much.

We might disagree in how the subforum is set-up, but we do agree that subsection is needed. We could just get it going and make adjustments as needed.

Why do you need an entire subforum?

Why can't you simply have a single thread for Auto-X and a single thread for Track Days? Just keep adding dates as the year progresses. Sticky both threads and call it good.

I've been doing that for the last 2 years in the Sac forum for track days and it works just fine.

I think that could work as well. I think that threads can start to become a little long though. If you look up the Auto-X threads that were started, there are a good 100 posts per event. I think participants like to post pictures of them in action as well as other forum members.

This is classic.

We tried to institute a Bay Area Off Topic section and the entire BAIC flipped out and threatened to revolt. Now you're complaining about having to beg to add the very same section (and even more)?

We can use the Bay Area Motorsports as a test pilot. If it works, we can keep it. If it sucks, we can kill it off. It isn't going to be perfect as first, but that's expected. We'll just tweak it as we go along.

Just make it the same thing as the Norcal Classifieds. It doesn't have to be bay area only, how about the entire California? Just put a sub forum link in each of California regions just like Norcal Classifieds. That way Bay Area, SAC, and So cal all link to the same California Motorsports sub forum.

I don't see why it's so hard, why not do it?

only being here a year, i always get crapped on when i put a tech question in BAiC because of the traffic it gets. and i still do it.

and now theres a whole thing about posting in the right section...if everyone used tech section the way its supposed to be used then your thread would get replied to faster...yada yada

i would totally support an off topic, are people to lazy to navigate a web page? lol
