don't know about other collectors but i just buy what i like. there are alot of so called collectors that buy whats hot and whats being hyped at the time but thats not keeping it real. some idiots spend every dollar on sneakers and will spend days outside of a store just for a chance at a pair but if you really think about it and have been dealing w/ sneakers long enough you dont have to spend a ton of money or spend cold sleepless nights on a side walk. you just have to know the right people.

Collecting stuff is totally cool, whatever your stuff happens to be. Its just that the people collecting stuff from a brand like Nike always seemed to be the big corporate ******/tools that you're talking about when you say they "buy whats being hyped at the time". I worked at Sportmart a few years ago and the funniest customer I ever helped was this dude who came in wearing all black Nike stuff (even the armbands and watch just so he could get more swooshes on his person). He had been looking "for days" for a Raiders jersey that was Nike; "see, deez all are Reebok, see I only wear Nike."

I didnt have the heart to tell him that since Reebok was the official apparel manufacturer for the NFL, his quest was doomed to fail. (Plus I thought it was fitting that he wander around for the rest of his life in search of the elusive jersey...stupid Raiders fans...)

 

I don't consider myself a dedicated collector, since I buy what I like too and with the intention of wearing every pair (what I tell myself anyways) But shoe collectors and buyers are all too familiar w/haters. They're no matter to me though....been wearing the Swoosh & Jumpman ever since I was a young buck waaaaay back in the day!

oh yeah, Reebok does suck, but I've saved a lot of $$$ since they took over making NBA jerseys. (don't buy NFL stuff)
