I'll make it easy for you. Get a Colt upper if you plan on going DI. For piston, LWRC.

look for one chambered for .223.

contact IRVINGTON ARMS in fremont and see what they have ready to go.

or a little longer drive (and to try out a GOLDEN CORRAL restaurant), TRACY GUN AND PISTOL... they have stuff ready to go too.

in the end, you can be like PACKY (ok, he had a franken-AR that shot AK rounds)...
So I'd assume Irvington is cool with shipping lowers there? Oh and the golden corrals are awesome! I ate there on an adventure to the midwest!

I'll call Irvington tomorrow.

well irvington would rather sell you one of theres...

call and check what their FFL transfer fees are for a long gun is these days.

otherwise, there a "kitchen" FFL i use in milpitas that is very very AR friendly. the best part? he is less than 100 feet from a pre-kindergarten school. i asked how he's bypassing the gun free school zone. he says, he was there first... lol...

and when i mean kitchen FFL, i refer to FFLs who doesnt run a gun store. in fact, this guy is a real estate guy first. but once you walk into his office you know are in a place that is 2nd amendment friendly...

and his FFL transfer fees are the one of the lowest...

oh, and i stand correct on the 5.56 vs .223. chamber issue.

http://www.thegunzone.com/556v223.html

i get confused sometimes with the similar .308 vs 7.62 issue.

Yes. A rifle chambered in 5.56 will shoot .223 as well.

How funny, just started building an AR with a friend yesterday, and going to finish it tonight. Spike's lower and a bravo company upper.

Can you take a look at your BCM upper and tell me if the M4 feedramps on the upper receiver line up perfectly to the ramps on the barrel extension?

My friend bought a Bravo Company upper and we were wondering why there's not a smooth transition on his feedramps. Almost looks like the tip of the rounds could get hung up on the ramps because there's a lip instead of being smooth.

Wow! That's cheap, but I wonder the quality?

Lol I ended up buying 2 ARs.... just got one yesterday, it was a del-ton upper, smith and wesson lower with the high standard parts kit and a buncha magpul stuff (foregrip, ergo pistol grip, flip up sights, magazines, and their milspec stock) for $650. It was like $400 cheaper than building it myself and I have 9 more days to get it instead of 3 weeks.

I also am getting the CMMG LEP II on monday. I think I'm going to scavenge the magpul stuff and put it on the LEP II. I was originally going to just get the LEP but the guy didn't call me back until I was already buying another one ugh.

Said the same thing to myself. I went ahead and picked up an upper from riflegear.com. Found out through a bit of research that their uppers are actually made by daniel defense, which makes really good stuff.
