Apparently the Z06 isn't fast enough

So they gave it more power and reduced the weight.....insane

http://cars.uk.msn.com/News/car_news...mentid=5191449

"Details are sketchy, but a turbocharged version of the Z06’s 7.0-litre is the most persistent gossip. If that is the case the Blue Devil, or SS as it has also been referred to, should be an absolute monster – power expected to be in excess of 600bhp. Detailed chassis and mechanical revisions will allow it to take advantage of its huge boost in power, while the body is said to have been lightened extensively with the use of carbonfibre. It has been seen lapping the Nurburgring, where else?"

its actually going to be a 6.3L motor, heres the spyshot tsken at GM, target HP is going to be closer to 625hp . Guess the best answer to the why a 625hp vette question is the new 600hp Viper.

but your right Gagan, as if the Z06 wasnt already a beast. Heres one of the big dogs from my vette forum that lives in Europe and some of the guys he races with

yeah, i mean, the car is just so hard to control at the limit, i don't know what GM is thinking by turbo charing it, just going to make it harder.

Gagan giving an AutoX perspective LOL. 99% of these turbo'd Corvette owners are never going to go anywhere near the limit unless in a very straight line.

a regular corvette 2001 is 13.1@109
a Z06 2001 is 12.7@113
a z06 2002 is 12.4-12.5@115-116

by the way for those who dont know the new vett will be almost DOUBLE the HP if its true that it will be turbo charged

intresting fact

"All Corvettes, not just the Z06, undergo 250 miles of full-bore autocross testing, 24 hours of road-course testing at competition speeds, and a grueling wide-open throttle test that has the car run at its 175-mph top speed until the gas tank runs dry about 30 minutes later."

so basicly every vett sold has been beaten to death then put on the lot! haha

That's because 99% of them haven't discovered Open Road Racing.

Otherwise they'd find out for the price of a speeding ticket, they can legally drive that beast as fast as their ***** are big!!

Every GM car and truck is subjected to certain durability test schedules, and Corvettes go through all of them. Then the fun begins. Corvette has a well-earned reputation for being a car that you can drive out of the showroom and onto a racetrack with little or no modification. To protect that reputation, Corvette engineers do things to the car that would tighten the sphincter muscle of the average driver. All Corvettes, not just the Z06, undergo 250 miles of full-bore autocross testing, 24 hours of road-course testing at competition speeds, and a grueling wide-open throttle test that has the car run at its 175-mph top speed until the gas tank runs dry about 30 minutes later. No question, the Z06 comes up as a very special version of a very special car. Somewhere, Zora Arkus-Duntov is smiling.

omg, you do realize that when they say "all corvettes" they mean when they being developed, not literally ALL corvettes they produce. Please tell me that is not seriously what you thought they did to every single Corvette they make!?!
