You know paul, an LS motor fits right in there AND sits a bit lower and further back than the stock KA for better balance.
And as for weight,the KA24 was only meant to be a big iron block truck motor and is probably the heaviest 4-banger made in the last 25 years, 371 Lbs!

the LS is all aluminum and the single cam means the pushrod heads can be about half the size of and OHC head keeping the LS longblock down around 425 Lbs, hell you balance that out by just swapping the battery in the trunk(-25/+25).
3 times the power, reliable, surprisingly fuel efficient AND smog legal since all LS's are 1998+
Yes I did all the homework on this when I had mine, they even have a swap kit for it now!

BTW i got a spare T56 6-speed here with Z51 gears for you too, just find the motor and a 300ZX R200 rear end!
