Anyone Tried a CG Lock

CG-Lock Performance Add-on for your Seat belt

Looks like a pretty good idea for an occasional weekend warrior Auto-Xer like myself.
Anyone tried one?

You mean the child-lock feature (pull belt all the way out) that only works on passenger seatbelts?

my bug eye's driver's side works... Just pull all the way out, suck in really hard and click it in. As long as you get it tight enough, it won't unlock unless you unbuckle.

Looks interesting.. and temping to buy..

The child-lock system IMO doesnt work that well. It does lock up, but it still gives some amount of slack to it.

I did this while autocrossing, its the safety feature in case you fly forward.

Scoot the chair back 2 notches from normal, pull really hard on the seatbelt so it locks (it should only move an inch or two) and then scoot the chair forward. It's like being held down by a harness.

Ghetto but it works.

Depends what year your car is. I used a schroth quick fit. Its one of the coolest harnesses in the world. Makes driving fast way easier.

I have an 06, quick fit doesn't fit my front seat belt receptacles. People said you can dremel them. I simply took off the front buckle and replaced it with one from an 06 seatbelt OEM.

Oh, the pre-tensioner, or whatever it's called... I see how that works now.

The CG lock works pretty well in keeping your pelvis area planted. I use it on my daily as I drive everywhere, it works well for what it is. I recommend it if you are not going a full harness set up. It just makes the seat belt a little heavier to fully retract on its own, so you have to feed it a little, because you dont want it stuck hanging low and closing your door on it.

^^^this exactly. I've used one daily for about five years now. For the retracting, I just leave it hanging on the seat so it doesn't get caught in the door. It becomes part of the pre and post flight habits really quickly. I've used it some on the track, but if you track with sticky tires, a real harness is way better, mostly for staying in place under braking.

i don't think that you're supposed to have the harness lower than your shoulders in case of a accident it can really f up your back that way. that's why the have harness bars.

Seen some reviews of people using this with good results.

Graco Seatbelt Locking Clip:Amazon:Baby

I'm thinking if you get a second and install it at the upper seat belt anchor you can lock the chest portion of the belt as well.

^ that's my experience too.

I've asked the same OP question before and the responses were:
- it works great... best way to tighten up the belt
- for event use only... someone used it long term and the rasp of the belt holder started causing noticeable wear (fraying) of the nylon belt

Alternative solutions:
- child lock clip (see above)
- push seat back a few notches farther than your ideal position, fasten seat belt, yank belt to "lock" it, push seat forward to ideal position. (this doesn't work if your ideal position is already all the way back)

One of my instructors recommended just taking your belt, twisting it a couple of times to retain tension across the hips, before inserting into the belt latch.
