You sure they allow any rifle above .22LR in that indoor range? I doubt it.

Markley's allows any rifle that shoots pistol caliber rounds to shoot there. nothing like 5.56/.223 , 7.63/308...etc

The public range off of Metcalf road in San Jose has 25, 50, 100 and 200(!) yard ranges.
I think range fees are ~$10 and they have loaner sighting scopes for free

Down in Socal, at places like ASC and On Target they let you shoot rifles indoors. I used to see guys come in with FN FALs, CETME HK 91's, AR's all kinds of stuff that would scare the crap outta the guys working behind the counter at shops up here.

Does anyone know the website to check on the legal guns allowed to purchase or bring into california. I was thinking about doing some of that online bidding - like on gunbroker.com or gunsamerica. Do you guys think this is a good way to buy a gun? why or why not?

Also, does anyone know if Mini 14's are legal in Cali?

If you are talking about the Ruger Mini 14, then yes, they are perfectly legal in Cali as long as you follow the usuall 'one evil feature' rule and don't have a mag larger than 10. Just as a word of warning, unless you really have your mind se on a wood stock M1a/M14 style rifle you may want to consider the SU-16 varients. Most 'rifleman' consider the Mini 14 to be less than accurate, plus they don't take AR type mags.

Yeah, I'm not trying to bash them, just saying if you're only going to buy one .223/5.56 rifle, one may reconsider purchasing the Mini 14. I like them a lot since they do resemble the looks and feel of a M1a (which I can't afford) but they still use cheapo .223. I wouldn't mind owning a used one for ***** and giggles.

Thanks guys! One other gun I would like to get, which is considered an "AOW" (Any Other Weapon) gun, is the Serbu Super Shorty shotgun This is a sick *** gun, but would be a pain in the *** to purchase in Cali. There is some kind of law where you have to have the sheriff, not a deputy, but The Sheriff has to sign-off on it.

Here is a link to what it looks like: http://www.serbu.com/shorty.htm

Has anyone seen this gun before, or ever shot one? It must kick like a mule!!!
