Anyone Know of Any Good Deals on DSL Service?? (Yahoo/AT&T preferred & NOT cable)

Hey all,

Like the title says, wondering if there are any deals on DSL service, preferably Yahoo/AT&T. I'm not interested in cable hi-speed (already have DirectTV & don't want to run more lines in house)

Thanks in advance,

CL

Cable > DSL in all cases. Hack yourself a cable modem and get yourself free internet without any kind of speed restrictions.

check out Sonic at sonic.net

They use ATT lines and their plans are $5/month cheaper than ATT's plans. They have great service as well. There's a $50 + free router going on for a 1 year subscription offer. They have free newsgroups access too (you can use for downloading movies/music without getting caught lol).

I would also highly recommend checking ISP's on dslreports.com...

Yes, it is really that retardedly easy. I'm not condoning it, but you could even use a computer with two NIC's or bridge multiple wireless connections to effectively multiply your bandwidth using multiple modems (not recommended)

There's also a damn good chance of getting caught. I certainly hope you aren't lol.

Comcast cable now is already pretty damn fast (15mbps++++ "powerboost") and most wouldn't feel a difference of doing so in most circumstances.

edit: woops I thought you meant you were "uncapping" the modem lol. nevermind!

There's also ways to get free cable tv with internet subscription with comcast.

thx 4 all the replies+recs+411!
normally, i like to be a informed shopper & do my own research, but really busy lately, incl dealing w/some family biz, so don't have the time or energy to really check into this.

anyhow, again, don't wanna do cable cuz already have DirectTV & don't want to have more lines snaking on+in the house.

i did hear from a couple buds about Sonic....kinda mixed reviews, but think only complaints were about their customer svc. i'll check em out this week.

as for AT&T/Yahoo, my bro-in-law just told me he pays only $15/month for "medium DSL" at his rental property for his tenants. that ring a bell to anyone?? the rates posted in that general AT&T DSL link posted a few replies above seem kinda high. i DON'T download a lota big files....music, movies, or ****--yes, REALLY! lol So, I don't need no def-con 5 level DSL.

btw, i'm a pretty sharp dude w/most other things, but i'm tech-challenged when it comes to computer tech. so please don't suggest any hacks and such. again, appreciate the tips, but really don't have time to mess w/that kinda stuff.

all i want is a "set & forget" wireless DSL connection for general internet surfing & *very occasional* music+movie downloads.

Thx,

att has a deal right now for their elite service, 6Mbps down and their signature really slow @ss upload for $17.50 a month

I use to be on att for years, and had their elite.

But i could not pass up this deal from comcast..

12Mbps with 15Mbps speedburst, down with some damn fast upload.. Here is my speedtest
http://www.speedtest.net/result/505110676.png

for $19 a month, no contract, free install

My upload speeds are faster than ATT customer's Pro package DSL download speed.

ATT: 6m/786k for 17.50 promo, 35/mo after
Comcast: 12m/2m for $20 promo, 43/mo after

speed per $, comcast is now where it is at.

I used to love Elite service but wow, torrenting stuff like WRC, F1, WTCC, MotoGP... it's a lot nicer to be able to upload on comcast now.

Actually, I pay for both right now, getting 18m/2.7m for 37.50/mo on my Dual Nic Mobo. lol

But since i'm upgrading soon to Core i7 and my quad core is turning into HTPC duties, I'll be dropping ATT more than likely since i'm paying for faster download, but, I only really would care for faster upload at this point.
