anyone here works for DISH or DIRECT TV?

yes. unless, you have a very smart installer who will try to install filters inline.
the reason is that the signals for the internet is so close to the tv signals.
and since they both come down the same pipe into your house, you just need a 1ghz splitter to split to the cable modem and your tv...
back in the old days of analog cable, IT WAS EVERYTHING that was coming down... hee hee...

Do I have to install a split where the cable is entering my house ?

Ok I just brought back the Comcast HD-DVR, and stopped my TV subscription. however, I still have the Internet offer. Where I can find a QAM to connected behind my TV to be able to have my local channels (even in HD ?) I have a Samsung 40' HDTV (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT406.../ref=de_a_smtd)

the tv should be QAM ready. have the tv do an auto tune and look for channels. you just connect the coax into the antenna input.
now remember, not all the channels will be there.

same thing happened here, but those changes are mostly written in the fine print. Just got a letter yesterday about my bill going up $13 next month due to my promotional period ending for my Showtime premium movie channels.

DISH - I liked it best, easiest to navigate. International programming changes due to contract disputes, this is annoying.
Comcast - Expensive, not as many channels hardly anything international.
Direct TV - hard to navigate but more channels. More expensive than Dish. LOTS more international channels.
