I am thinking about getting rid of Comcast TV (I'll keep internet) and replace by a satellite provider as well.
So I am interested in this topic

Make sure you lock in a good deal right now.

I have dish and they love to creep up costs on you. My bill seems to go up every month. Just jumped $20. I need to call them and tell them to put it back or I'm jumping to Direct TV. They have some killer deals right now.

oh and make sure your dish is somewhat protected. The whole weather doesn't effect reception is BULL. I've had a couple different set ups and it does. In small print it say... precipitation may blah blah blah.... What the F! is rain?

And if ANYTHING grows anywhere near it you have to keep it trimmed. I have a tree that sometimes grows branches over the dish... talking 10 feet above it and it can drop the reception by 30 percent quickly.

i hate my D* now, all of a sudden were paying a lot more. just lazy to adjust.

also i have an hd dvr, all the other boxes in the house are fine, but mine is not getting local channels, saying bad signal, wtf.

Comcast internet gives you FREE BASIC CABLE with LOCAL CHANNELS in HD if you have QAM tuner.

im thinking of going to comcast, they have competitive deals right now

so i have played with all three of these for me dish is the easiest to use there dvr is kick *** and the hd is nice and clear i haven't had any reception problems I've had my system for 3 years now the only problem i have ever had was i had a receiver go out on me about a year a go and the one the sent me had the same problem but they replaced it in end with a higher end model and gave me 25% off for the next 3 months on my bill
now as for direct i like there amount of channels and they do have the most hd channels but there dvr sucks its way to hard to navigate there just to many menus to go through i did hear they were coming out with a new box that was made by tvoh but i haven't seen it yet so this might have changed the one thing they do have on dish is ondemand which i wish i had some times in the end i still love my dish and any thing is better then comecast

been on directv for a couple months now. Before had comcast and I like DTV much better. The only gripe I have is the channels received. They give you a lot of paid programming/infomercial/shopping channels (there's about 25-30 of those channels) and a lot of those channels are double broadcast on a different channel (i.e u could have shopping channel on ch 230 and it'll be on ch 340 as well). I think at least 10-15 infomercial/paid programming channels are doubled. Then there's another 10-15 religion channels lol

Are you sure that with just the Internet offer from Comcast, I can have free local channel (and in HD with the QAM) ?

yes. unless, you have a very smart installer who will try to install filters inline.

the reason is that the signals for the internet is so close to the tv signals.

and since they both come down the same pipe into your house, you just need a 1ghz splitter to split to the cable modem and your tv...

back in the old days of analog cable, IT WAS EVERYTHING that was coming down... hee hee...
