Anyone have knowledge about dog breeders?

Hello BAIC,

I was just wondering if any of your guys/gals had any information I should know when it comes to picking the right dog breeder? My girlfriend and I are looking for an english bulldog. Yes, I know it is going to be expensive but its a breed that we have been interested in for A LONG time now. I personally want to adopt one but 1) they are pretty hard to find and 2) my girlfriend is set on finding a puppy. Im sure that once a puppy bulldog is up for adoption, it is gone within a few hours. Any advice/information would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Andy

Have you done any research on bulldog rescues?

Licensed breeders are a good way to go. You seem like an intelligent guy, so you can probably spot a puppy mill from miles away.

I never liked bulldogs, because they are too lazy for me lol.

You can always go to that breeder where Rob and Big picked up meaty =)

I'm a member of the ASPCA and have fostered plenty of dogs. Its tough though because my GF and I got attached to alot of them. I am glad they went to good homes though

It helps that border collies are wicked smart.

Add another vote for adoption.

I used to have a english bulldog, one of the coolest dogs. Very loyal and great with kids! A very entertaining dog to have for sure, lots of energy! I got mine from a breeder in another state. Cost around $1,200 with shipping.

If you find a breeder you can meet with make sure you check out the ***** and sire. Also make sure there akc registered, papers should be included.

Noooooo! Don't buy when millions of others die!

There are sooooo many fine dogs waiting to be rescued from cages at local pounds, and rescues! You'd be amazed, all of our pure breeds have been rescued from pounds. Lots of people buy pure breeds, decide they can't take care of them and give them up which is when you should swoop in and save a life.

Think about all those poor doggies just wanting to be your best friend, wanting to love you unconditionally but aren't able to because people decide to buy from breeders instead of saving their lives. All of our dogs are soooo well behaved and healthy which contradicts what breeders will tell you so that you don't rescue... They'll tell you things that will make you think twice about getting a pound dog, like personality problems, health, etc which is all BS. All pound dogs have temperment tests otherwise they wont go up for adoption. Its all about how you train your dog and 80% owner influence. There are a ton of puppies to be had out there, and you can make the difference of life and death for one of those little innocent love machines.

Please just consider it, do it for me, do it for the dogs... After all, they have feelings too and just want to be loved.

One more thing, a pound dog will cost you around $100, complete with EVERYTHING including shots, microchip, etc... A dog from a breeder comes with NOTHING, no shots no NOTHING, nada... Think about the money you could save and put into your car!? Not only will you have a BETTER dog then a breeder dog, but you will have a faster car too!

We have 3 pure breeds, all rescues.

1. 5 week old Mini Pinscher, from the pound

2. puppy Toy poodle (smartest dog EVER)

3. Puppy American Bulldog, he's about 120lbs of lean muscle now

All of them are rescues, two from the pound and one from a foster home.

Keep in mind that pure breeds have a lot of health problems, FAR more then mutts. This is from inbreeding

im not sure where to start lookin... cause my gf really wants a purebreed shih zhu. i dont mind adopting one at all. i rather save an animal then pay 800 for one. i also what a samoyed but i have no clue on where to find these in a shelter/rescue group.
