i wouldn't call it "racing", more like failing with style. I only had the 'vagen for 2 races and both times I retired after two laps with issues. First time I went OTB and apparently my saddle wasn't secured properly... so I had to finish the lap standing. It sucked. Second time I got a flat.
First two races I was on my Bianchi (rode SS in mens C) and I made poor gearing choices both and ended up mid pack. Too tall first face, to short the second. I also rocked the Bianchi at the Prairie City races in the fall but I retired for all 5 races, once due to an epic crash and 4 times due to flats... the rocks out there are to much for 700x32 even at 40+ psi.
Just got my MTB (Ingles SingleSpeed) back up to snuff since I'm hoping to find time to do the Spring races at Prairie City. I should be allot faster now, I'm down 15lb since my last CX race and my VOMax has gone up a skosh too. Only problem is I have been fighting chronic plantar fasciitis since the fall.... so we'll see.
Dont race road because i don't own a road bike, but im considering putting some slicks and a taller cassette stack on the 'vagen and giving it a shot....

This is an informative thread for someone like me who's just looking to get a bike to ride around for exercise. Hopefully one I can pop the wheels off and throw the frame in the back seat of my car. I'm not a fan of bike racks.

Here's the bike. It's a Bianchi Strada LX. Yes, an it's old, but in good working shape.
It's a bit dusty (NOT rusty) for sitting in my garage. Brakes are some Shimano Dia-Compe ?x-5000. 12 sp. Probably need the cables to be tightened. Wheels are true as far as I can tell by spinning. Computer not included.
I used to use this as a commuter when I went to UC Davis, hence the registration stickers (which are old now).
Rau... you have first dibs because it's your thread. After that falls through I'll ping the rest of you guys... first to cash wins.
