Anyone got an old keyless remote collecting dust?

The entire contents of my car got swiped over the weekend while I was surfing. While I had the key with me, the remote is gone. And since the thieves now know where I live, I'd rather prefer to change to a different remote than use my spare.

So if you've got the GOH-M24 remote from '95-'01 (one of those) collecting dust, I will gladly take it off your hands for a six-pack.

Thanks,
Vitaly

By part number, that's an H7110AS020 if anyone wants to replace it.

but you really need to change the alarm brain.

since that remote is still registered with the brain, it doesnt matter if YOU use a diff remote.

now i could be wrong, but from what i know about alarm brains, you normally have like "spots" reserved in the alarm brain.

these spots hold the signal that the remote gives out.

on the clifford alarm i have, there are 4 spots. meaning up to 4 diff remotes can be programmed into the brain.

so if i lose a remote, i then reprogram the brain using the 3 old remotes and the new one.

now, on the subaru alarms, remember how you need to program the current remote fob when you change batteries?

i think they work the same way. everytime you remove the battery from the remote fob, it changes the frequency or signal that it gives out so if you dont re-program, the alarm brain wont recognize the remote, if you just use it immediately.

when you go through the re-program procedure, it goes through and reprogram the new signals the remote fob now generates...

now, what does this all mean?

since from the factory, we all get 2 diff remote fobs, that the alarm brain only has room for 2 "spots"...

what you can do, is re-program the alarm TWICE so it pushes out whatever codes is stored and now your only remote is the only thing that can work the alarm...

again, this is all speculation on my part... since i havent read the technical specs of the alarm system.

if you really wanna be safe, like i said, get another brain...
