It's a good time for sure. I really like to take 35 to 9 down to santa cruz then back up all the way on 1. Nice drive.

Booyah! You guys rule. I had been hoping to drive down the 1 and do the afternoon at MB Aquarium (which I've still never gone to). But in case we run out of time, might just have to set up camp somewhere down the 1. No worries, I'm up for a play it by ear meandering drive with good company. And now I know the 1 has plenty to enjoy.

thats right after Carmel. It seems to be about 45 minutes from Monterey to Santa Cruz depending on who you get stuck behind in Moss Landing

I'm with jeff on this one...continue to carmel and 17 mile drive....can't be beat. If you have time or it's a multi day deal.

and yeah...2hours....NO WAY. Not unless there is ZERO traffic and you're smashing.

I used to commute from watsonville to S.F.

Taking normal freeways in normal traffic it's 2 hours give or take. Taking highway one...more like 3 hours.

give us an outline of the time you plan on spending and what you'd like to do...you'll get a lot of good recommendations. So far so good.

Carmel/17 mile drive....killer.

aquarium is cool but honestly....after an hour you'll want to bounce...maybe sooner. There's some good food to be had there and some nice hotels. I've stayed there before...rooms over the water RIP.

haha, there are like 15 people from iclub that live in the MBay, I'm sure SOMEONE can let you chill at their pad for the night! Haha, but yeah, like Aaron said, if you're in town still around 7:00PM, hit one of us up, we have a little suby meet on Sat nights in Sand City, about 5 miles north of Monterey, hella chill

Ha, I'll be in Pacific Grove this whole weekend. Should get there at about 7 tonight and will leave some time Sunday evening. My girl wanted to go for the whole weekend as part of her birthday gift (we usually just go for the day or stay maybe one night). Staying off of Lighthouse right by the Row at the Otter Inn... w00t! Probably stop by the aquarium tomorrow (Sat.)

Like others said, Highway 1 has great views. There nothing from Santa Cruz to Monterey though.

I never tried from SF, but Page Mill Rd to Highway 1 down to Santa Cruz is spectacular Cali rocky/cliffy/beachy coast line (the cold NorCal version)

Excellent picnic opportunities.

Oh... and Carmel rocks. If you have the time, continue south on hwy1 from Carmel. Really nice norcal coast there too... one of the stops down there I proposed to my wife back in the day.

dont go down to south bay and cut over to santa cruz...gross. take 1 all the way...the stretch of 1 between SC and SF is my favorite, besides south of monterey...

1 between SC and Monterey isnt that breathtaking, so youll want to wow her with above SC 1 and below monterey 1

Done the drink many times. It's good fun. The worst part is going through Santa Cruz. Too many friggin lights.

I was invited to go there this sunday but past. Hope you have/had a good time.
