I agree...I'd never use the web service for anything complicated. But to be able to do it ALL in under an hour from sitting down to paying, I think it was worth it.

BTW: If you are 1099 and/or K1.....DO NOT USE H&R BLOCK or some other cheap filer. Get a tax attorney

I used H&R Block in 2001 and they F*ed up everything. From my K1 to my rental write-offs. They had me pay about $4k over what was due. I had to have my tax attorney resubmit my return. He laughed. You get what you pay for. I would rather pay him, know that I am saving as much as I can, and most importantly DONE RIGHT!

The people that work in these Tax Prep Bucket Shops are not CPAs, Accountants, or Tax Attorneys. They go through some half a$$ed training course and only work for a couple months.

If you have a W2, then do it yourself with some software or just use the 1040ez.

If you have a 1099 and/or K1, sold a house, have rental property, a business, then stay clear of these nincompoops!
Yeah H&R and other companies plug in numbers. I have a kickass CPA that's all about saving me money for a decent price. I also am 1099'd and pay quarterly. She can write-off a hooker if i have a receipt.
