Dang, that's nuts! I'll have to let my parents know about the warning. How are you liking it down there in SD, MP? What area did you end up settling in to? You still owe me a beer when I'm down there next.

Hey Chris, We ended up buying in Oceanside...18 month old 1500sqft condo. At least I have a garage now, and the immediate neighborhood is nicer than most of the penninsula. :\

Weather is great, but I miss all the darn foreigners and their good restaurants up there. We still haven't found good Thai or India.

I was in my hotel room in Eureka when it happend. It didn't feel like much. It did last quite a long time though.

I used to live up in Eureka, and the larger quakes were quite a regular occurence. No surprise when you consider that there are three major continental plates bumping into each other just a few hundred miles off of Cape Mendocino. I remember a previous Tsunami warning back in 93 or 94. I was at College of the Redwoods at the time, which is in plain sight of Humboldt Bay. They evacuated a few buildings and corraled all of us on higher ground on campus until the warning was canceled...
