Any wiring gurus here?

I need professional help with the wiring on my Mini project. I've got the basic design and layout established but I need someone knowledgeable to assist with some details and answer technical questions.

Contact me to be a part of this amazing(ly drawn-out) project. More importantly CASH MONEY!

Are you replacing the main harness or doing a swap? What's the project?

I've posted elsewhere on i-Club about the project so I won't go into all of it here but in short, it is a '62 Austin Mini with a 2003 Yamaha R1 engine. Here is the entire build from the beginning:

http://www.joe250.com/cars/mini/rebu...nirebuild.html

I am using the R1 wiring harness, removing a few unneeded items and adding a few new ones.

Specifically what I need is:

1. Someone to help me calculate loads on all the wiring so I know I have at least the minimum gauge to be safe.

2. Use the above info to help me group items into the right fuse locations and determine the correct amp fuses.

3. Look over the whole system, both on paper, and in the flesh to catch any big mistakes.

4. Assist me in spec'ing the correct remaining parts and accessories for the harness (connectors, etc.).

I could figure all of this out eventually but I am short on time and really need to get this project finished up. At this point I'd prefer to hire someone with some expertise.

I found the Mini on Craigslist. It was not much more than a shell sitting in a field up in Sonoma.

Probably may already know, but they have helped my friend in the past: http://www.pro-motive.co.uk/R1KitInfo.html

I want to do the same build, finding a Mini is not easy.

Is it hard registering? Do you need to get it barred after you do the swap?

check out miniguy.com
most of the time they are revined as older models. i have a freind that has had a few. he has a 94 mini fuel injected with a/c thats registered as an 84. anything 86 and older should be no problems to register as its considered a classic

Wow, that's quite a build. A bit over my head, I have only done complete harnesses before, nothing that complex.

edit: The jackstands are sick, i'd love those on every car I have.

Pretty sure its 1975 and older here in Cali. Can't say for other states. Too many hippies here.

Does my vehicle qualify for a smog exemption?

Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is:

* Hybrid
* Gasoline powered 1975 year model or older
* Diesel powered manufactured prior to 1998 or with a Gross Vehicle Weight rating (GVWR) of more than 14,000 lbs
* Electric
* Natural gas powered with a GVWR rating of more than 14,000 lbs.
* Motorcycle
* Trailer

We could give it a lash! Although you may flick the wiper switch and accidentially fire the ejector seat.

Let me ask my buddy he's good with wiring up here and see if he could help, no promises but I'll see. We need to get your Mini on the road

Most asian cars use 14-16 gauge, fuses and relays. I would take a electrical troubleshooting manual (ETM) from say a honda Civic and start there. I'm pretty sure you can copy what gauge wire honda used and how they did their wiring. know someone with a honda civic? then just ask to look at their car.

again look at the ETM book from a honda civic and copy it

Harness and connectors, its gonna be custom unless you pull it out from a car that has identical components you are looking for.
