Any seaside residents or people familar with it and commute?

Can't find anything in aptos I like, that I can afford that is.

I found something in seaside, and drive seemed fine to watsonville, but then coming home last night I left seaside at 7:55pm and didn't get to wastonville for a full hour!!!!!

Is this how it is out there? is anyone familiar with the commute from seaside to watsonville. Its 22 miles, if its an hour commute or something it's just too far for me.

Any help would be appreciated I have to get a place asap looks like I won't be out there by my start date and i've been having ****ty luck. need a lil yard and dog friendly.

---1 thing about the drive that did come to mind is a) its 7:55 friday, b)im driving towards watsonville when id actually be returning home from watsonville if I was living there.

If you're going to live in seaside, you might as well work in Salinas or Monterey.

That stretch of boring highway 1 is littered with CHP too. It'd just be a matter of time before you got popped for speeding (if you drive like a lot of i-clubbers admit to).

The drive isnt too bad, sometimes can get pretty congested through moss landing corridor, 2 lanes, lots of cars...

and there is alot of cops, be careful of the over passes, they chill out and get people all day long.

does anyone know how long the 22 mile commute is during like 8-9am, 5pm?? if its 45+ I won't do it, but if its 25-35 on occasion its ok. was the hour+ @830pm on a friday not representative of the commute?

you can use google maps to show traffic averages for different commute hours. pull up the normal google maps directions, open the traffic tab and click "change" to change the time to the time that you'd be commuting.

When I used to live in the Santa Cruz mountains, there seemed to be traffic for a few main reasons:

Beach traffic - full of drunks heading home from the beach after 6pm
Christmas tree traffic - n00bs people heading to the hills and leaving the hills driving stupidly slow and occasionally dropping trees in the middle of the highway or road

You may have been experiencing the former.

Your commute was bad because of the Us Open golf tournament, it will get better. By tuesday your commute should be a lot better.

ok sweet. Yeah I had been there twice previous, smooth sailing. Made it back to Lafayette from moss landing in an hour 45 w/o going over 80 ever.

Then leaving at 7:55pm friday, it took over an hour to get just to watsonville, and we couldn't figure out the significance of that.

Ideally i'd love a place to come home during lunch and take my dog out for a bit, but I guess you gotta be a goddamn millionare to live around aptos or anywhere thats not an apartment.

thanks for advice guys
