Any road bikers out there?

I've been trying to get into road biking lately and wondering if there is anyone out there who is up for some easy 20-40 mile weekend rides?

Also, post up what you got and recommendations on some of your favorite upgrades!

Right now, i've got a stock Felt F4SL.

I hate bikes, and the dumb asses who ride them. They think they own the road, and have the right to ride in the way of others.

Rolling speed bumps, thats how I see them.

Not that I'm going to endear myself to Overbear, but I do ride from time to time. I'm in the process of getting into shape for the Konocti Challenge on Oct. 3rd the Pedal the Puddle 100k around the lake...

...and two weeks later the 100k Tour de Vine is calling my name. If you're interested, PM me and we can meet up and ride some between now and then. My favorite ride for distance training is from Sebastopol to Forestville, on through Guerneville to Jenner, then dropping down to Bodega Bay, then on to Bodega...
...now to finish the loop back into Sebastopol.

Again...**** road bikers, not one of them obeys the rules of the road, every one of them ive ever met are a bunch of self important ******.

Ever been cutoff by some retard in a Suby? Little retard wanna be drifters breaking the law like it doesn't apply to them because THEY own the road? I have, tons of times......

Just try to run my *** over. Attempted vehicular homocide will look great on your resume.

Roo,

I'm still amature at best, but I'd love to meet up and get a ride going. Hope you won't mind the slow pace

(PS notice i didnt' say all subaru/import/blah blah all suck and can eat one. Lumping everyone into the same stereotype isn't cool)

It's the law to SHARE the road. Neither of us own it, but we both have to share it by law.

I've been stuck in critical mass, I've seen roadies do some stupid things. I get irritated when I see them taking up huge amounts of space and agree that many are self important ******. But fact of the matter is that I spent YEARS on a bike and I've seen PLENTY of cars do stupid things to bike riders. Hell I've personally been hit a few times. Once time pretty much blew apart the left side of my body.

I've seen bikes in the city do a lot of stupid things and I've seen cars and pedestrians do even more.

I think you're a self important *****. Damn near everything I read from you is full of negative talk and stinks of I'm better than you.

So maybe you should go make a visit to blow buddies and get an attitude adjustment.

I think it's sad because I think you have a HUGE amount of knowledge that would otherwise be useful and helpful. From welding to general car knowledge.

Wow. Only a two week rest between 100k's. Impressive. You ever do one before? It takes a while to recover from. Good luck with the training. Great goals.

I will agree some car owners are ****ing idiots too, I wont stand here and pretend to defend all car drivers as "great people"...I know better. I also won't say I have not seen a few (and I stress a FEW) roadies that have obeyed the law, stuck to the right, and got out of the way of cars...but so few as to be the acception not the rule.

I am also sorry you have been hit, thats uncalled for too...unless, you were doing things you should not. Blowing thru a stop sign (when was the last time you saw a roadie stop for a light/sign), Riding 2-3 abreast, flipping off drivers who give a little honk so they can pass...in that case I have zero pity for someone who gets hit, they got it coming to them for ignoring the rules of the road/being a discourteous *****.

I am going to stand by what I said Most, if not all other than a select few, "roadies" start and cause the problems. Now...does that mean I advocate running them down, no (we need a :dodgy: smile so people can tell jokes/sarcasm). However will a spill a tear when some group of self ritious bike riders get hit because they were packed up in the middle of the road going 10mph around a blind turn...no.

I would agree if you said lots of roadies are douches etc etc etc. haaaaa. I'm not a roadie by any means. I used to race mountain bikes and road on the road over 200 miles a week. One day a week was my sprint training and I used a road bike for that. Still have it. haaaa.

As for getting hit. Once I was riding about 10 inches from the curb... talking inside of that grey area next to a curb and a car hit me with their mirror. Sent me into the curb, across the curb in the air and into those nasty thorny bushes that way to many houses have bordering their lawn full of spider webs... sucked. Another time a girl was pulling out of a parking lot and didn't even look at me. Smack me in the leg. No big deal. Etc etc.

I will admit to contributing to the big one though. I was riding on the wrong side of the road, facing traffic. She pulled out of a driveway and didn't look my direction. Got me good.

The Portola loop is a nice ride if you're only looking for ~20 miles.
