Ok, just test fitted the PIAA 1100 X Platinums behind the grill. It's a tight fit but it looks like it will work just fine. I will bolt them to the radiator suppor beam. I wanted more of a yellow light and these seem to tqake one special bulb and no others. So it's not like I can swap a yellow h3 in or anything. I have to call PIAA to confirm but I think I am painted into a corner on this one. Maybe a yellow film for the projector? Does that work?

You're right they are a special bulb. He may still be able to help you out. I don't think you are going to be happy with the 1100x as a fog light. They are a driving beam. High intensity focused beam. Fogs are usually spread at a wider angle, as close to the ground as possible. Usually yellow in color for contrast purposes.

fogs behind the grill???? That makes no sense unless you are purely doing it for looks.
Fog lights are a wide beam projector that are ment to be around 18inches off the ground or less. Mounting them that high won't do you much good in the fog since it'll bounce right back at you..not to mention **** everyone off driving around you. Not to mention you'll loose light through the grill and light patttern.
If you want fog lightsmount them in front like one of these aftermarket units. Either that or get small bulbs and mount them in the openning where your front mount is...I highly doubt you'd see any power loss.

I think where I am mounting them is 18 inches front the ground. Maybe 20. I will get these to work I think, we will see. It's not for looks it's for function. The grill will barely black ANY light. At least that is my story for now. Wish me luck

So much to my dismay, I am returning the 1100X's for some real fog lights. There is just now way to get the light amber and super white is not going to cut the cheese. I would be upset down the line if I went through all the trouble of a clean install just to not have a light I would be happy with. So now I know what dimensions and mounting will fit, so at least getting a set of lights in my hand helped mock up the install. The guy told me from the autoparts store I could totally return them if they did not work.
Think I am going to get these
They are the PIAA 1400 Ion Crystal fog black. They are a fog light. I should get about 10-15 bucks back as they list for $235 instead of $250.

As small as the fogs you have chosen are; they would fit quite nicely in the top corners of the lower radiator cutout. They would be much more functional as well. The lower they are mounted the less amount of light that will be reflected back at you by the fog. I suggest trying both positions, behind the grill and in th top corners of the cutout in real conditions and see which is best. With fog lights you wna them as far apart and as close to the ground as possible to be most effective. Just a suggestion. I'm glad to see you dropped the 1100x's. You'll be way happier ayway you go with the Ion 1400's.
