Any local lighting experts? Fogs behind grill? (NOW W/INSTALL PICS!)
Now I am doing this for total function. We have a ton of fog here on the coast and it is very thick and visibility is CRAZY low. Now I can't have fogs in the normal spot do to my FMIC that is going in. I want, no I NEED a good set of fogs. I was thinking of putting them behind the center grill. Kinda like the new cop lights are behind the grill except theirs are obviously red and blue and I need yellow? Obviously there will be some blockage but it will be minimal.
Question is what lights to buy? I know I can handle the wiring but I want a quality set of lights. I have looked locally and all I can find is these cheaply made ricer type oval lights that aren't even fogs, the call the "spot lights" or some crap. What is a good brand and do I go for yellow bulbs or just yellow lenses?
TIA

PIAA or Hella are the two that I've heard recommended the most around the different boards - some like Hella better cause they don't have the "name" markup.
yellow bulbs I suspect are slightly better than lenses, but that's all just a suspicion. In reality, there's probably no appreciable difference. Personally, I like Narva Golds for my fogs. As for where to put them, yes you can mount them on the bumper like above, although I've seen at least one other yellow suby with small lights (not sure if they're driving or fogs) mounted behind the grill all stealth like. I'll see if I can find the link to pics...
not quite what I was thinking of but you should get the idea...

Also check out that thread in general - lot of useful info there.

I am looking @ two possible models.
I like the Hella Black Magics, but they might not be fogs as they are listed as driving lights. they sure look nice and are totally black when not lit.
Next is the Hella 550 Fog light in Amber
I have an in at a local autoparts store and they have some nice PIAA's in stock that didn't fit the car they were ordered for. I am sure he will charge me cost so he is going to call me back with the model so I can see if I can get them to fit. PIAA's are nice lights right? Like a reliable brand?

I just got offered the PIAA 1100X Platinums for $180 out the door. I can't pass that up as they sell for over $250 on PIAA's website. I will do a write up on how I work things out so if others think they need some more lighting on the '-04-'05 GD's that have a FMIC will be able to follow suit.
Here is the PIAA's

STiYLIN, swap to a high wattage yellow bulb and an after market direct wire harness should get you a good amount of additional light for the foggy days. Put down the bong and focus on the force. No light is as powerful as the force.
